So, what's the current status of everything?

Install LineageOS you noob.
And that somehow doesn't require me to update my phones firmware to the current version, while OnePlus had had made an intermediate full OTA update essential in the process, but at the same time don't mention that fact on their support site nor do they provide a link to said OTA update? Or does it make all TWRP releases that are said to work with my device work, so I don't get to pick a bad one?

I'm looking into the Pyra as a UMPC so there's a higher chance of me losing it compared to a desktop or even a laptop. I'd like to use full disk encryption (FDE). Does the Pyra/Debian encryption software (LUKS?) support hardware acceleration for this? If not, I wonder what the performance and power consumption impact would be.

Thank you.

Current status is, that ED shipped 8 Pyras and now he has a sh*tload of work to get them all up and running. Unfortunatly most of the prepreorderers are no devs so they need a babysitter.

He doesn’t work on the OS only for the Prototyp Guys, but also for the MP Pyras as they use the same OS, so let’s hope the MP will get out soon, so more Guys and Girls from the Community can help mature the software..
is it now shure which colors whe get, or do you first need a these Samples from the Painting Company??

A Blue Pyra 28 would be cool ..

The Pyra specifications ( https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/pages/pyratech/ ) show that the Pyra uses a Texas Instruments OMAP 5 System-on-a-Chip which has 2x ARM Cortex-A15 @ 1.5Ghz with NEON SIMD instructions. The Cortex-A15 uses the ARMv7-A Instruction Set Architecture which does not include instructions specifically for accelerating AES encryption. Such instructions were included in the ARMv8-A Instruction Set. However, it is possible to use the NEON SIMD capability to accelerate AES encryption, as used in the NaCl library ( https://cryptojedi.org/crypto/ ,then search in the page for "Fast cryptography for ARM CPUs with NEON vector instructions" ). It will depend on the LUKS implementation for ARM whether it uses the NEON SIMD instructions when they are available.
My guess is that unless you are in the habit of doing particularly disk-intensive work on an UMPC, the performance will probably be adequate, but like you, I am curious.

My guess is that he had a very busy end of year. :)
Busier than his last 8years ? sound doubtful. Since he took over craigx for the pandy, his life has been hectic ... I still wonder how he manager to keep his GF, even more make her his wife. IMHO, that sound completly impossible. I mean how is it possible to make a girl happy with 3 full-time jobs (his "real" job, his shop and the pandora/pyra projects)

It does, however, include a co-processor interface that allows to implement these kind of things as directly available vendor-provided extensions without actually extending the ARM ISA itself.

The OMAP does contain cryptographic acceleration modules (M-Shield), but I'm not sure what exactly you have to do to access them.

AFAIK, the Pyra uses the TI OMAP5432. If it is the General Purpose (GP) variant, it does not offer M-shield.

...OMAP5432 supports secure device pass-through.

However, OMAP5432-EVM uses general-purpose (GP) device and the security options is not available.

For using device with security options you must have NDA agreement with TI.

For more information contact with your TI sale representative.

OMAP5 info: http://www.ti.com/pdfs/wtbu/OMAP5_2011-7-13.pdf

I don't know the exact variant of the OMAP5 being used in the Pyra, so I can't say if M-shield is available or not, or even if available, whether it is usable. It may need an NDA from TI for more info.

Lots of holidays in Greece helps.:)

Did you guys add the video editing job?
Things are flowing and that is what counts...one might wanna check the smach z thread or the support people are getting on the very first gpd handheld... :D

Joke aside. All is fine. Exciting times!

Paid up some vouchers on dragonbox for my pyra. Best get it all paid off asap. Then I am sorted

Conclussion: Fuck the prepreorders.

At this point it is very important to get a somehow stable operating system and this is what they are doing right now. The software should be ready ages ago, but thats another topic. There is no excuse that the software is delaying the project. Anyways, how it is done is not very effective. Fixing bugs as they are reported in various threads spread all over the forums or shown in youtube-videos... If the prepreorderers where devs, it would be more helpful.
