Here is Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast for the Pandora.

You will need the full version data file to play this game. Update your game to the v1.04 version then copy the "base" folder to your appdata/jedioutcast folder.

Alternatively, you can try the demo version. Install it and copy the "demo" folder to your appdata/jedioutcast folder, or use the Ready2Play PND here. Note that the level on the Demo version is not include in the full game, so it's worth a try (that level is quite hard).

About performances, this game can be slow on some areas, mainly large room/open space with lots of round objetcs (pipes), and/or when many guys are active (many = more than 5 or 6).

32bits and 16bits Textures are supported, but not compressed texture.

Also, OpenAL is working but is eating a lot of perf. So disable "EAX" (it is by default) for better performances (you need build 04+ for that).

For CC Pandora model, you should use "low" texture resolution (it's medium by default), and stick to 16bits, because of memory constraint.

For Rebirth, you can choose medium, but you should stay at 16bits.

An hint: I just tried "medium" for geometry, and it was running as well as "low", just prettier !

This is the Demo for Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

The PND is Ready2Run, data files are already installed. If you already have Demo data, you can use the "full" version that also support Demo File.

Build 01
-----------

  • Initial build
  • Pandora controls
  • Adapted to OpenGLES-1
  • Some neon optimizations (thanks Exophase for the hints

For thoses interested, here are the sources. Well, it's a diff of the git sources: jedioutcast.tar.gz (it's diff from Build 03, difference from Build 02 is inside the tr_quicksprites.cpp files). New diff, from Build 09: jedioutcas_pandora.tar.gz

I have declared 5 #define this time. So beside the usual "PANDORA" (for pandora specifics, like screensize or buttons), and "HAVE_GLES", you'll find "ARM" (to avoid x86 assembly), "NEON" (for Neon specifics optimisations) and AUTOAIM (for the Aim Assist code). Note that this one is a bit more messy than Academy.

You can also find every on a git repo here: https://github.com/ptitSeb/JediOutcastLinux

I'll send you some new controls, soon.

We totally forgot about items.

Also cycle weapon has to be K and L instead of Q and W

You don't like Weapons/Items on Left hand like it is now? You think it's better to have everything on right hand to leave left hand available for moving everytime?

I found the Q/W combo fine for weapon switching IMO, but no problem to update default controls :)

It was fine for me when playing the demo as I only was using the Lightsaber.

Now as I played the Full version and don't have the Ligthsaber in the first level I noticed that it's bad.

Especially when there are lots of enemies and you have to dodge and select the Thermal Detonator.

It's too much a handicap if you have to stand in battle.

Also the Items have to set some more attention.

I'll post some better controls tonight.

Ok, make sense.

I'll integrate your update control in the full only, I don't think the Demo is worth updating for that (and it's 60Mo).

About geometry detail, in the setup, it's "low" by default. i tried "medium" on Gigahertz Pandora, and it's much nicer, and performance where just the same!! So you can enjoy higher geometry for free it seems (at least on Gigahertz).

I can't get this to work. :(

I've downloaded Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast through Steam. Ran the game, all works fine on my PC. Transferred the entire folder over in to the appdata/jediknight folder, and it said it couldn't find the files. Turns out I needed to rename the folder from "Jedi Knight" to "base". Now after the CPU speed dialogue, it just flickers my SD light, and nothing happens.

Any idea what's wrong?

EDIT: Don't worry, I goofed, I see it is just the "base" folder from INSIDE the installation folder. It's working now. Now to see how it runs. :D

Thanks for this gem! Runs surprisingly well on my Rebirth unit with standard settings (tried and played through the demo - healing abilities make this game quite easy actually) and controls seem fine.

One thing though, as the problem is with Freespace: Any way to set the brightness higher?

You can use the Gamma setting in game menu (Setting 2), but it doesn't show the new brightness before reloading texture. I set default value to 1.2, you can go to 1.4 if you find to dark. Higher value degrade the textures IMO. So change the value, and quit/restart the game.

ptitSeb...you outdid yourself with this one.....excellent job my good man. ;)

This is awesome, except that it reminds me that I never learned how to play FPS on gamepads (keyboard/mouse forever!).  I will think of you fondly as I die over and over because my thumb is not coordinated enough to aim.  :-D

Well, I'm with you! But the aim assist that I've put inside is helpfull, and after an hour or two, you will get used to it (still, a mouse is better of course).

Demo was fun. Now gotta download my steam copy to try it on my Pandora. Runs well on a cc btw
