Is there really a light at the end of the journey...?

There are 2 Disappointing things about my Gpd Win:
It’s runs Windows 10 (forced updates)
And it’s runs Farming Simulator 2013 smother than my aktuall Laptop..

I wouldn’t want it as my Work Handheld, but it’s still a cool little Device..

Nah, as long as it does exactly the same as most other processors do (if even slower) t's not obsolete....

I think It is obsolete for being too old and 32 bits. Even modern Raspberry Pi 3 is 64 bits.

But Pyra itself is not obsolete for me, as there is no other device capable of replacing it. For example GDP Win 2 is too much big por a pocket and it's keyboard has no light, so you can't use it in some circumstances.I think keyboard light is a must in a mobile device (and I can say this after owning 2 Sharp Zaurus pocket computers, both not having light in keyboard).

The good part about Pyra is that it's obsolete componet, CPU/SOC, can be upgraded.

So even being 32 bit and not as fast as the newer CPU's on the market, it can still be used for most of the tasks and as it is the only CPU in/for the Pyra it is by definition not obsolete.
It will be obsolete as soon as a new, better and compatible CPU for the Pyra comes out.

Now please stop this obsolete nonsense.

What gives the GPD WIN 2 battery so much more capacity? Is it physically larger than the Pyra's? If not, is it worth considering their battery manufacturer? I have read, though, that the Pandora (and therefore Pyra, likely, as the manufacturer is the same) batteries are much more long-lived than normal, so it may not be a good trade.

It has dual 4900 mAh batteries. Considering it lasts 2.5 - 3.5 hours, though, that's simply a natural result of higher draw.

Pandora was about 4200 mAh, and Pyra about 6000, but since they consume less power, 10-12 hours of runtime is the general number to expect.

It really depends on what you're doing, capping the TDP of the win2 at 3w, it's good for office, media consumption, and web browsing for 12 hours as well

You can also stress the crap out of the pandora and only get 4-5 hours.

Pretty sure I remember seeing posts of people who tortured their Pandora and yet still got 10 hours at least.

Admittedly I never put mine through that hell.

You are right: this is a nonsense.

How can be obsolete something that hasn't arrived? It will be obsolete when it arrives, not before.

So you are right in one way or another :)

PD: Don't worry: I love obsolete computers: I still have a few Commodore 64, 128 and Amigas (and some other obsolete computers, even some obsolete pocket computers).

The definition of 'obsolete' is something that is either no longer used, or no longer useful.

The Commodore 64 may not be current, but it's certainly still used (and may be considered useful to a few people). Archaic? Perhaps, but not obsolete.

So the Pyra certainly won't be obsolete by any stretch of the definition.

Well, the Win 2 is quite a bit larger than the Pyra and is missing the largest components of the Pyra: The SD Card slots and the LTE modem (which is bigger than one SD Card slot, and that's without the huge antenna)

Of course there's more space for a bigger battery and active cooling solution :)

We tried to cramp as much as possible in as little space as possible :)

Does the GPD-Win 2 have a lot of removable storage? an easy to type on keyboard in a handheld situation? easily removable battery? Upgradabilty path? Support after a year when GPD-Win X comes out? A non-glued in battery that won't swell up and break open the casing?

So far it's not better at everything, just better at running Windows programs for a short period of time.
Hey, those are the reasons I'm sticking with a Pyra <3

Some months ago, I sit at the waiting range at the hair stylist and wanted to play some Tetris on my Gpd Win,
But it doesn’t worked because Windows 10 Forced Update...

On Pandora/Pyra there is no forced update,
If you want to play Tetris, you can play it even whit the Super Zaxxon Alpha from 2012..

X86 Games on the Go are cool, and the Win 1 works good for me, but Pandora/Pyra is the better solution..

My plan was to buy me a new Notebook for Games, because my Thinkpad is from 2010, but now I’m thinking about using my Pyra as my Main PC:
I have a older LCD TV that I can put in my Office, then a USB Hub and my USB Keyboard and a USB Mouse,
PC Gaming doesn’t make much fun for me, so I only need a workstation in the Office and A Portable Emulator Device..

The Pyra will be everything at once..

True, but SZ originally dates from before people realised how exploitable certain holes were over the internet. The Pandora's probably helped because not many people will use it for web browsing, which is how a lot of these remote exploits compromise systems. But if something does get to run locally, I can confirm that old SZs are exploitable by the dirtyC0W exploit, because I tested that. That got patched though.

You will likely need to update your Pyra more than you've ever updated your Pandora. But at least you can choose when to do that, and in my experience of Win10 applying updates is starting to get as slow as it ever was, while linux updates are in general still pretty quick. Only updating the kernel and the initcpio, updating libreoffice and firefox ever take appreciable time for me.

As long I can boot up my Pyra, start 8blitter and run Tetris,
I’m fine whit more Updates,

Also i want it as my Workstation, this also means Internet, YouTube, Netflix,

I remember that it’s was said that there was no virus for Pandora because Linux ARM and it’s not worth the work because there aren’t that much Device..

I'm not sure how true that was even then, but nowadays most connected devices running ARM linux are ADSL routers and various IoT devices, and that's certainly a big enough target. If all you do on a particular day is open up a GB emu you've already got and load a tetris rom you've already got into it, you almost certainly don't need to update, but if you're running anything to respond to calls or download SMS messages from the sim card then I guess that might need an update periodically.
