So, what's the current status of everything?

Why are you even working on other things - just get the Pyra out to us, this is most important
Read the OP... :
“Now, I can hear how some are crying "Why are you even working on other things - just get the Pyra out to us, this is most important!".
Well, yes, I can understand where you're coming from.
However, this is exactly what caused the issues with the Pandora back then: Craig decided to spend all his time to work on the Pandora and closed the shop... and that eventually lead to the issue that he ran out of money.
This is NOT what we want to happen!
Unfortunately, the Pyra has turned out to cost A LOT more than planned (due to a lot of bad stuff that happened), so money is tight and the only thing to keep things going is by pulling in money.

For example, I am producing the 2000 cartridges for the EU/US release of the MegaDrive/Genesis game Ultracore (some of you might even have preordered it).
While this eats quite a bit of my time, it actually fully financed the production of the 1000 keymats.

And of course, keeping the shop interesting by adding new interesting products also takes some time but pulls in money.

So in case you're wondering why sometimes things like finishing up the preorder prototypes or news posts take a while: it's not because I want to delay the Pyra for as long as possible (that would be crazy indeed), it's simply because I can't afford to hire more staff right now OR work fulltime on the Pyra.

It's a very delicated balancing between time, money, customer support - and, and, and... (I should run a gofundme ;)))”

You may mail pre-orderes to make the remaining payments (after all we are so close to mass production), if that can speed up Pyra production I will be happy to do that.
Hasn't that suggestion been previously made and rejected? The reasoning was that that money would not actually be earned until the product ships, so it is debt rather than earned money. Should something go disasterously wrong such that the product never shipped, EvilDragon would feel obliged to refund pre-orderers, but he would still be on the hook for the money spent. (Under the terms of the pre-orders, I do not believe (IANAL) that he is legally obliged to refund our payments in that eventuality (or any eventuality) but I'm certain he would feel morally obliged to try.) It seems that EvilDragon wisely limits his financial exposure to a level that he is (moderately) comfortable with.

Haha sorry, my bad - in my defence, life’s too surreal at the moment to be able to tell the difference between satire and literalism anymore, particularly online!

As far as I recall, the original prepayment and other vouchers I've since bought have all just turned into vouchers we can use against anything in the shop, although I certainly intend to keep them for my Pyra. Should the Pyra project officially come to an end by some incredible fate which looks extremely unlikely given all of the efforts gone into it now, I wouldn't hesitate in using the money to buy something else that ran linux and which he sells on his shop. Although if I did that I wouldn't be part of the fantastic community that's grown up on these boards, so it would be a shame.

Well If EvilDragon loses his normal day job (evening job?), you know what he has to do to make a living outside of Pyra project and the Dragonbox shop, there won't be anything for anyone...

I'm not unreasonable. I only ask of him that he builds my Pyra. That's just one Pyra he has to build! In addition to that, I do not mind it if he goes living on the street as long as he ships my Pyra in good condition.

So as you can see I am a very reasonable person willing to make a lot of great sacrifices such as your Pyra and ED's way of living. Truly I am the epitome of reasonable and altruism. All I want is my Pyra NOW NOW NOW NOW !!!!

So a way to help that I see is to drop by the shop and make a purchase or two to help with the flow of funds! Time to shop for Christmas.

My Ordernumber is 28, a 4G 4GB Pyra, I wanted something opossum to my second Batch Circuit Co Pandora ..

Like the Slogan of Mercedes Benz : “The Best or Nothing “ ^^
(Or like Moderator of a German Car TV Show said: “Wer einmal hinterm Stern gesessen, kann die anderen Autos vergessen “ (Who once sit behind the star, can forget the other car)

AThis is also a favorite quote for my Dad ^^

Thanks for the status update. All in all it sounds we are getting finaly there...eventualy. ^^

As often said: If you have millions of USD lying around, things are a lot easier as you can simply do stuff when you want, without planning more careful.
OR you are one of these many chinese startups that can throw out such devices like crazy. I doubt they all are multi billion dollar companies. But they often sit right at the source of all needed parts.
Its really annoying to see how hard it is to achive the same in Europe, Pyra development shows that there are still alot of things that need to improve to compete with China, when it comes to help for startups and building electronic devices. (I'm pretty sure it's also much harder to do this in the USA, not only in Erope).
It only can get better from here, at least I hope so.

Clearly being right at the source of where all the parts are produced will help improve TTM but don’t forget the crowd-sourced nature of the Pandora/Pyra projects, which has obviously extended TTM... Or the consumer-protecting regulations, which are generally stronger in the EU than in China.
