With the internet being the place it is, I'm expecting Pyra unboxing videos.
I've never understood why people make those!
What's the point?

For all I care the Pyra could/should come in an uncolored recycling box and that's it, everything else is a waste of ressources/time/energy.
 
I guess they're quicker to make - I've watched one or two in the past when looking for video reviews of a device, but no reviews had been put up yet. I guess for the audience they're actually aimed at, people get a little thrill when they receive a delivery of some cool gadget, so it's trying to share that thrill with viewers on the internet.

BTW, I was always wondering, why the standart USB Ports on the back are different? Since there is no more comboport, it would have been possible to use the same ports. This looks kinda strange to have those two different holes :/

is it known to men how much current the Pyra can take? And what voltage while we're at it? My charger can output .85A@5V.

With many USB cables only around 250mA charging current were seen
as a result of step-by-step increase with stop at 4.75 Vusb.
Set it to 4.55 Vusb to still have some margin

I take this to mean: the charging circuit draws power until the supply voltage drops to some threshold. That could be due to: high-resistance USB cable (too long, wires too thin, or bad connectors) or the power supply just isn't powerful enough (is at full load, has high internal resistance, or is overheating).

With whatever device this was, "250mA" seemed to be not fast enough charging, so the permissible voltage drop was increased from 5% to 9%... and *iff* this is linear (I think voltage drop is linearly proportional to the current flowing...?) that means the device could now maybe draw 450mA current after this change. A better charger or cable *might* be able to supply more though.

I'm guessing a lot here, I don't even know what device they were testing this on, though I think the Pyra is using the same charger chip and this same driver.

Are any of those retailers physical stores? Nowhere else does the box represent what you see. Adding cost to designing a box scales quite badly, because you need to put money up front, for what I cant see as profitable down the road. The box that is on it now actually excites me, something no box has ever done.

That would be up to the retailer. I certainly don't see any reason to rule out the possibility ahead of time. It's not like online stores are the only way to sell a product. Regardless of what people may say physical stores are a long way from being a "thing of the past".

@stevenc99 That mustn't be relevant figures. Otherwise we'd need three batteries - two of them occupying the chargers at any given time.
 
Nice update but the logo plate looks really awful (it sticks out like a sore thumb). That's a shame since it looks different from the initial few concept cases we had seen in the past.

Plus, I really dislike Apple devices constantly advertising their Apple to everyone else, so I really don't see why we need to have that on the Pyra...

Nevermind, I actually detest advertisement. Although, I don't mind a manufacturer put his signature on his product.

If i sit in MC Donalds, or something, and surve the Web whit my Shiny New Pyra, whit Iluminatet Backlogo, then hopefully somewhone will ask if this is the new apple device,
this is my changse, to talk about the Pyra and Opensource, and why this isnt the new apple device but still cooler..
Also Macbooks whit Iluminatet Logo are pretty common these days.
 
Ahh. All I know about the 3DS is that it's got upgradeable firmware, uses crypto to prevent you from moving your saves from one device to another, and is named after a gimmick.

All of that's true, but not exactly a problem for all (and probably only for a very select few ^^) users. Me, I don't even want to play homebrew games on my 3DS (did the whole homebrew thing on my PSP and was constantly underwhelmed by the huge number of, to be blunt, shitty games), I could move my saves over to my New 3DS when I upgraded (though admittedly, it is stupid that you can only transfer directly one-to-one so you have to buy a new device *before* you can sell the old one). And I really coudn't care less about the name XD.
I only mentioned the 3DS though because there was a big outcry when they announced they wouldn't include a charger by default anymore, and now nobody seems to care at all... My personal attitude is: It's fine if you don't include a cable and charger, *iff* you use a standard USB-Port for charging. Because not only are USB-Cables and chargers extremely cheap, by now most people already have way more than they actually need at any one point in time. If you use a proprietary port though, I think a charger and/or sync cable should be included. Just my 2c ^^

Actually, one of them still is a combo port:
The blue one which looks like a USB 3.0 port can't support USB 3.0 with the current SoC, the OMAP5432. Instead, the extra lines the port has are used to give eSATA capabilities, but because USB 2.0/eSATA combo ports are not produced anymore, this had to be used as a solution. It sadly still needs an proprietary adapter to be used as a eSATA port, and this adapter has all the hardware on it to translate the signal so the SoC understands it. But it is full speed, though I don't know by which SATA standard. The good thing about this proprietary mess: If there ever is a new SoC that supports the USB 3.0 port, it can be used as one in the future.

The other USB port, the grey one, is just a normal USB 2.0 port. It would be confusing to colour it the same way as the combo port or to give it connections it can't actually use and most times, you can only get blue USB 3.0 ports and grey USB 2.0/1.1 ones.

It has all logic applied to it, though it's not very obvious if you don't read every piece of information on it.

From what I gathered, it should be possible to insert the crucial part of the DS-hinge which you can find at some shops that have replacement parts for NDS (like Vartis).
It's a very small stopper which holds the hinge in certain positions.
This is supposedly already possible on Pandora but nobody seems to do it.

The only reason why something like this isn't included in the first place is Nintendo's patent trolling.

Actually there's one community member who did it.
I had his Pandora twice for repairs.

The Nintendo DS hinge fits where the Pandora hinge goes and that's it.

Not tried the New 3DS XL hinge.
That one would be interesting for some as it adds a sticky position in a 90° angle as well.
 
Played lot whit my Pandora, and the only Case somewhone Ask about it was on a Unimog Gathering in Gaggenau..
Whit lots of Mobile Devices out in the World, i think Pyra want take much attention..

Unfortunately it's even worse, if I read the chip errata[1] correctly: "i859: SATA 6-Gbps to 3-Gbps Negotiation Can Fail". Which means you can run in trouble, when you try to use 6Gpbs devices on your Pyras eSATA port. However I don't expect many use cases are touched by this.

I'm planning to hack in a camera (hopefully hns added the CSI solder pads..), so I could use a second "defective colour" case.

I don't have a single USB charger that is not lethal to use... And none at all that can supply the required > 2 A, those aren't even supplied with phones afaik.
Uh, why would >2A be required? USB spec doesn't even allow >2A... you need USB-C for that, and Pyra doesn't have USB-C. But more importantly, I would hope idle power draw is well under even 500mA so a normal USB port can charge it.
