Just a quick heads up

You just use either a Bluetooth earpiece or a mini phone that connects to your main device via Bluetooth (the method I use). Unless you're an iPad user, then all bets are off.
What do you put in the search box if you want to find a 'mini phone that connects to your main device using bluetooth'? I'd be interested in at least getting a quote for one, but I don't know what to search for that wouldn't get me a prison phone.

Hmm that is a prison phone isn't it? It certainly says it takes a SIM card. Perhaps it can also be used to sync up to another device over bluetooth, but that's not it's main advertised use at least.

Edit: I may be actually needing a 'bluetooth dialler' but at present I'm having difficulty finding a unit that doesn't also act as a mobile phone.

Not that it would matter at all, but the very idea of someone using the pyra (or any other device of it's size and shape) as a cellphone is completely beyond me.
Yes i know, ppl use their huge iPads as cellphones, too.

I just think it is super strange.
Phones at all were very strange once. A few days ago I witnessed my colleague talking to someone via his smartwatch - looked strange, too. Doesn't mean not to do it. ;)

Thin phone?

So you`re playing a game.. and something important happens.. but it`s in your pocket with the lid closed ?? why
The second "for" in my post indicates that I'm talking about 2 situations. I never said that those situations overlap. Your assumption that they overlap makes no sense. Try to read the sentence again and maybe you'll understand the 2 reasons why rumble is a mandatory feature on the Pyra. If not then just tell me and I'll word it in a way that's easier to understand so that you too will understand why the Pyra would be a disgrace without rumble.

Well, you can't fault him for thinking you meant while it was in your pocket. If the device wasn't in your pocket and something important happened in the game, it's possible to make the player aware of it by showing that something happened on the screen that the player is currently giving their attention to. Thus, it's easy to assume you were talking about a scenario where the player isn't looking at the screen, and you had conveniently just mentioned such a scenario earlier in the same sentence...

probably he meant gaming with Wii or some other console and pyra is sitting idle in his pocket when something important happens.

I don't need to play sound at the same time it vibrates. Even if I wanted notifications, I think I would prefer either only sound, only vibration, or if I want both, I still could alternate one second each or so.
Or you're listening to music while receiving an sms, and you can hear without the music cutting or being mixed with noise. Unless it's on a hard surface, then you'd better have listened to the Nokia ringtone :p

...or a former N-Gage user. I dare not imagine a possible current user. I mean, the thing is literally designed after Goatse (and if you don't know what the latter is folks, please oh please be warned not to look for images).

His assumption was that I meant playing games on the Pyra while the Pyra was closed in one's pocket. And now you're saying that I cannot blame him for his assumption because it made sense. How exactly does it make more sense to play games on the Pyra while the Pyra is closed in one's pocket than to play games on the Pyra while the Pyra is open in one's hands while using the rumble feature as a cooler alternative for notification? If anything the senselessness of his assumption makes me blame him even more and is enough to report his post as a candidate for the wall-of-shame where everyone who's posts have been recorded will only receive Pyra's without rumble.

Also, what you're suggesting is like saying that the Pyra does not need sound because it's also possible to have music notes, sound waves, or some other representation of the sound display on the screen. The rumble feature is essential to the experience just like the sound is. It basically makes the Pyra 4-D. Imagine having on D removed from the screen and thus having a 1-D screen. Sure, it could still display representations of a 2-D screen but it would not be the same. It's not good enough without that extra D. Now we have 4 D's. We have width, height, time, and rumble — those are the 4 D's of 4-D gaming and he who masters them all will be the master of Pirii.

Seriously though, will Pyrii have rumble? I need rumble for when I'm playing Smash64 and a DK uses his vB on the ground.

I seem the recall the shape was inspired by a taco one of the creators was eating.

If the Pyra's lid is closed, isn't the default behavior to go to sleep?

I hope not. If a device goes to sleep (which in my book means suspend to ram) the CPU should be switched off, which would mean that it can't respond to the modem telling it you've received a message or an incoming call. The situation's different I guess if you didn't opt for a cellular unit, but I think most of us opted for a cellular unit.
