Finalizing everything!

626.05 EUR = 942.097 AUD

That's pretty close to the 1,000AUD tax-free import limit! The yearly high rate is 1.62, that would make it 1,014AUD which pushes it over into the import tax realm.

Hopefully the exchange rate stays around where it is for those of us down under. :)

Also, how much is intl. shipping expected to be?

Check out the Shipping charges for Australia here: https://www.dragonbox.de/en/content/11-shipping_costs

I guess ED will have to let us know how much the package weighs

How does this work? Can i combine two pre-orders? Do they need to be the same order?

Can i order one 'now' (k tomorrow) and decide later if i want >1 ? Or do i need to preorder 2 directly

Would the EU one be suitable for Australian networks?

Please make sure you do a lot of research, comparing not just the frequency but the channel information for your carrier against the PLS8 datasheet
I remember this came up before and the conclusion was that one carrier would* work with the European one, another would* work with the US, and another looked like it would work but closer inspection showed it was using a different channel or something and wouldn't work for either.

(*)"would work" meaning that all the technical parts seem to be there but like everything about this project, until someone's actually tried it we can't know for certain.

I suspect a few people still won't read it properly. Maybe put the final price in the title or something?

I was wondering what purpose the extras functions for the mobile version serve (barometer, hygrometer, compass...) and if they would be relevant to emulation and homebrew in general (I'm sure they could be in some fringe cases, but I mean 99% of cases). Please bear in mind I am fully aware what these things are, so no smart ass comments :)
My main interest are games & emulation & I couldn't care any less about phone, internet (unless some evil games have to have always on internet connection) and utilities (not entirely true about utilities, but close enough). So anything not strictly necessary for that is useless to me. Only things I can think of on top of my head are Accelometer & gyroscope (and maybe rumble, which I assume is what vibramotor is).
Please confirm.
Good times, good times...

^ there won't be evil games which require the modem. (well, it'd be up to somebody to make one.)

probably you have to buy 2 at the same time. it might not kick into effect until you actually do the final purchase, at which point it might not be possible to get two (unless there are spares at that point).

I really wish ED would comment on this though, I'm concerned that there could be an issue he isn't aware of and may not be until it's too late. Guess I should fire up a PM at some point.

i'd also like to hear about the 2GB RAM not having the right bandwidth or whatever, if using half the chips for the 4GB model. perhaps it's needless worry, but i'm sure ED will continue to test even before delivery.

@EvilDragon
It also appears that you get "loyalty points" for things in the shop when you make purchases, but do you want to allow pre-order / donation type stuff to give voucher credit? [edit] but i see the credit can only be applied to certain categories. nevermind you've thought this out![/edit] also the "vibramotor", accelerometer, and various sensors are standard on all units, not just mobile, right? this is misleading in the tech specs.

I think I remember that it's just an all in one unit: ED wanted to add an accelerometer, and there was a convenient chip that had that plus all the other stuff. The barometer doesn't have much purpose in games, but I remember reading about cell phones that use barometric pressure to accelerate GPS calculations to lock on faster. Doubtful that that'll be the case here, the GPS is a different unit and I didn't see anything in the spec sheet for feeding data back into it.

The Mobile Edition adds mobile internet (3G/4G), GPS, a Vibramotor as well as different sensors (Altometer, Hygrometer, Barometer, Compass).
Seems pretty clear to me: the mobile edition has the extra features, the standard edition doesn't.

Only populating two chips is not something that *might* be bad, it will objectively suck.

so are the preorders starting now or what, site shows them but says out of stock already

They arend sold out, but its needs some time to put the Preeorders on the Shop Page
Preeorders are starting tomorow, and then there will be in stock..

I spoke to my father, and he also said:" 745€ for Pyra whit everything, why not??"
Even if i ditnt need 4gb, its like on Cars:
More horsepower is more horsepower..

Ok I'm confused. I did the whole pre-pre order thing last year so how does that come into play. And why is this page showing a lower price than this one? (290 v 595 euros)?

ljones

Also, it's not clear yet to me if the modem can be moved from one Pyra to another. If it can, I'm inclined to get 1 Mobile + 1 Standard, but if not I'd need my backup unit to be Mobile...
I'd guess the chip will be soldered to the PCB, in the way often regarded in this forums as extremly hard if not impossible to do at home. ?

If this is undecided, can I preorder 2x Mobile and downgrade one to Standard for the final purchase? Or buy Mobile+Standard+100EUR voucher, and upgrade the Standard+voucher later?
Isn't the main purpose of offering the 6 different models and make you decide now, to determine the demand for each and then rely on that when going in production?
[doublepost=1462024095,1462023772][/doublepost]Hm, I just figured, I've got questions, too. I want to be prepared tomorrow.
As I understand it, tomorrow we can buy a voucher. What does that mean? Do I get some sort of number, I should wright down on a sheet of paper and put it into a safe? Or will it just be associated with my costumer account?
Do I have to make a customer account at the shop? Or do I have that already with my forums account?

Now to decide between mobile or wifi.
I'll get a 2GB anyway.

The RAM will eventually be upgraded by the next SoC board and I don't see myself needing more than 2GB with the OMAP5.

The mobile chip is a decision that will impact the device for its lifetime.

Well, you use the Voucher from Preepreeorder to pay the 290€ for the Preeorder Voucher
+ 100 € for the Mobile Edition..
The 290 € vs the 575 are because the first is the preeorder price, and you have to pay the rest when your Unit is going to be ready to ship..

And if the 4gb Pyra want happen because there arend enpought preeorders, than these Preeorders will be changed in 2 gb..

Was this Preeorderpage also in Englisch??
Or do whe germans just have luck to see it yet, because EvilDragon also is from Germany so he wrote it first in german to figure out how to make and then he will translate it later in english..

No, I mean I paid for the pre-preorder, but I have no vouchers, how do I apply my pre-preorder to my preorder if there's no voucher?
