I'm curious about the ribbon cable templates @ed recently tweeted about. I thought there was just minor cutting to the ears needed to make the original batch fitted, and the new batch should fit just fine as they were.

Looks like he wants to make sure that cable is as good as possible since it was a major weak point with the Pandora. If it won't slow things down or cost more to continue to improve it, it's a great idea to make it better.

If it would be problematic due to costs or the timeline he could always make the change he mentioned and wait to do the big revision.

the ears were to fit in the sockets. the other adjustments are to the angles and lengths so it can fit better/easier to curl to get through the hinge. as rgyD said, this was a cause of failure in the pandora. the cable rubbed against itself and cut through some traces..

Thanks. That makes sense (I guessed as much), but I completely missed that being specifically mentioned; kind of assumed that it would have been something that was investigated previously. Presumably changes in the case design have had an impact on it.

Yep, if you're using bash, or any shell with a bash-like history. And the Pos1 key is more commonly known as the Home key in international circles (although I find myself using ctrl+a more often on this laptop and on my Pandora - and ctrl-e does the same as the End key, which is worth knowing when using a keyboard you're not totally familiar with).
