The thing is, Windows sometimes releases updates that break the system.
Like software A needs update package xxxyyyzzz. But xxxyyyzzz can't be installed due to an error.
I tried like 2 hours fixing that, all sort of repair tools, installing it manually. Nothing worked.
So the only way would have been resetting the whole system.
I had to reset my Linux systems several times.
But it is much easier to backup and restore Linux software than windows software.
Especially if the person owning the computer uses DRM software.
Open Source is much easier to handle as I can simply reinstall what I need without entering keys or logging into accounts.
An other thing is that Microsoft wants to force you to have an account.
I also have an Windows 10 and Windows 8 gaming machine without Microsoft account.
As soon as it won't be possible to use Windows without an account I might even switch to gaming on Linux, even if that is a serious pain.
