I thought this was what we were supposed to do. I thought this was suggested on the pre-order page.

Yeah, additional gift vouchers (but not two preorder vouchers) is what was suggested on the preoder faq page. But as bitibyte was talking about buying one pyra with two voucher, i just wanted to clarify that different kinds of vouchers were meant.

So one pyra preorder voucher + some gift vouchers is the way to go if you want to pay the full price already.
But as Lightkey said, maybe that's what bitibyte meant anyway.

Yeah, taking into account it will be quite a while yet, maybe boosting the pre-order with extra vouchers will give Ed some more liquidity. Still lots of moving parts to nail down, but I guess he would let us know if there were financial challenges.

This page gives you a nice graph showing the order history.
Also keep an eye out for the Order Number Image thread. People tend to post a new image to reflect the new total shortly after an order comes in. :)

is there any reason some people preorder the 2Gb version rather than 4Gb version (same price)?

Although the preorder price is the same, the end price differs by I believe 30$

30 EUR extra, but yeah, close enough.
There's also a legitimate concern that 4GB will use more power than 2GB and therefore reduce battery life, but back of the napkin math suggests this extra usage will be less than 20 minutes (as I recall, I can't find the original math post) over the estimated 10 hour usage, so you get 9 hours 40 minutes instead, remember of course that even the original estimate was just an estimate, so it could go higher or lower depending on final usage.

EvilDragon: I'm in Vienna, and I'd love to buy you a beer - will you have time for that? Maybe you'd like to come and visit us at MetaLab, the world famous hackerspace (http://metalab.at/) - Please let me know, I'll do whatever it takes to buy you that beer mate! :)

With heavy web browsing, more RAM could easily yeild better battery life due to cache. More data in RAM = less data paged off disk cache and less data reloaded from the network.

    Man...899 preorders so far.
I'm waiting for the 24th (day) to preorder mine - that's when my credit card's limit gets cleared.

We have at least one "mate" beer here in Brazil, heheh. But I have had it already and don't care much for it (except for the glass, which is really nice):

I'm really looking forward for the Pyra. It's probably the most perfect portable device for nerdy hackers like me these days!

Oh...first post. Greetings to everyone! Nice community you got here. :)
    Any other brazilians out there?

Hey, EvilDragon, that was a very great beer and a wonderful time spent with you during your trip to Vienna!

Seeing you assemble a Pyra prototype in the Metalab whateverlab space was a true victory for this Pyra-lovin' hippy. As promised, here are all the pics I took while you did that .. I won't add comments, but rather let everyone else just see the story as it went down .. truly a classic moment:

At some point my fear of the backlight leakage became more of a lust.

I want that glowing Pyra so badly.
