News from the meeting at GC

I'm actually surprised that this is the first time I have read the 't' word here since the whole thing started.

I don't think he's a troll. On the contrary, I'm inclined to believe his naivety. If anything, the forum regulars are trolling him.

In some ways, though, he's voicing the anticipation and longing for new news, preferably good news, that most (maybe all) of us feel. The realist knows that holding one's breath and jumping up and down isn't going to speed things up. Would that it could though.

Stop writing in all caps! ;) :D
i can do what i want. stop being so bossy.

As you said, most of us love updates. We also participate more than to demand those updates. We also understand ED is just one person (or am I mistaken?) and he has a lot on his plate. Plus, he did tell us recently that he would post an update when he had time.

Right. If holding our collective breath could effect an accelerated positive outcome, we'd be in copyright violation with The Blue Man Group.

This thread is funny to read. It's too bad the Pandora forums are lost to the ages because there's some pretty good preorder angst conversations there too. :)

Re angst, it's been pretty mild I think. Mostly due to the majority of people understanding the pressures and complexities involved, and ED's sometimes brutal (i.e. realistic) honesty about progress.

If you enjoy angst-ridden, entitled, complaint threads there's little better place to go than Kickstarter.

I agree. And, besides, if there wasn't a little tension while waiting then do you really want the Pyra?

I think many of us really want the Pyra asap. Major differences compared to the Pandora are that some (most?) of the vocal people already went through waiting with the Pandora, or are aware of it, and that details are given every step of the way, and with every set back. I like how much ED shares with us, although I can get where some might feel he is a bit too slow with the updates. I don't agree, but I get it. I would rather allow him the time he needs to do everything in his personal/family life, work, his shop, everything else, then finally the Pyra. If he fails in any of those other areas then the Pyra may not happen, which is why we want him to get more sleep, stay healthy, and not neglect his family or work.

Just a friendly reminder to mention the Pyra to everyone (well all the computery folks) you know, on forums, in chatrooms etc.

I mention it to all my linuxgeek friends. Just start the conversation by asking "What do you think of Debian as an OS?" and you'll get a why look back and hupsa interest has been generated. + it comes with analog sticks :)

oohhh Freunde, nicht diese Töne...

sondern laßt uns angenehmere anstimmen,
und freudenvollere.

Pyra, Pyra!

Pyra, schöner Götterfunken
Tochter aus Elysium,
wir betreten feuertrunken,
himmlische, dein Heiligtum!
deine Zauber binden wieder
was die Mode streng geteilt;
Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
wo deine sanfte Knöpfe gedrückt wird

I know this is not perfect either, but i would prefer something like this in the last line:
"wo dein großes selbst gezeigt."

So the last two lines can be translated to:
All men become brothers,
where your great self is shown.
