Unfortunately it's 0×0 resolution. It's great for people who love solid black.

On the DragonBox Shop site, there is no more version Pyra Standard Edition, 2GB RAM: 500 EUR without VAT (=595 EUR incl. VAT) !!! :|
Is this the most requested version ???
No, supposedly only 22 people ordered that. They get the 4GB Pyra for the price of the 2GB Pyra.

Hey, really, then i will take the 4GB version too, if it's for the same price as the 2GB version !!!

No, you deposit the same amount of money, but the final amount payable for 4GB was always slightly more than that for 2GB.
No, ED said he's probably going to give the 2GB pre-orders a free upgrade to 4GB. Supposedly there were only 22 pre-orders for a 2GB version and apparently that's not enough for ED to be willing to produce them. So it looks like no one will get the 2GB version and 22 people will have the 4GB version offered to them for the 2GB version price.

Edit: He actually said "probably".

Well that remains to be clarified, and what I said wasn't strictly wrong. If you selected a 4GB unit you were always due to pay slightly more than if you'd selected a 2GB unit. And it would seem slightly unfair to him if you selected a 2GB unit now that he's said he's not going to offer them.

I just tried and was unable to get the shop to give my the pyra pages. I hope that will be easier to navigate to once they become actually saleable, but at the moment I'm not sure what ED is actually offering.

It's probably less problematic to give the 2gb buyers a free upgrade than asking them for more money. I can see how it's unfair but it seems like the better move.

How is it unfair? Do you really think that those 2GB buyers mind getting a 4GB instead? They'd probably only ordered the 2GB version because it's cheaper and the price stays the same. The only advantage that the 2GB verison would probably have is using slightly less power.

And it's definitely not unfair to the 4GB buyers. The 4GB buyers get what they ordered, they're not getting shafted as far as the free upgrades are concerned. If ED wants to give out free upgrades to people for whatever reason then that's his right. He could go out on street and give 28 Pyras for free to a random stranger and it would not be unfair. I think it's good to know that he's solving this issue in the nicest way possible. 22 people get extra happy and no one is being shafted.

If you paypal me $5 I'll sign your kernel.

Also, no 2GB units means SW is stabilized quicker and easier to handle because we don't have to manage two versions of the bootloader :) Less variance in the field makes it a lot easier to handle (RAM size is difficult to autodetect with the current HW)

The other thing is, at the beginning, the 4gb unit was communicated as the unsafe option, with no guarantee that it will actually be produced (and there were times, when it looked indeed, that this version might not work out). So denying those pre-orderers a pyra(without paying more than planned), although they chose the seemingly safe option, could be problematic.
But I can see that some might consider it unfair, but maybe we can all take it the way that they just were lucky.
Disclaimer: I did order the 4gb version as well

Fairness ?
really ?

Are we arguing about the fairness of a 5% change of price for 2% of buyers in order to halve the number of models produced in a world were you can be flying next to someone who paid 1000% more or less than you did for the same trip ?

I mean lambda is right with the reasoning, but come on. Move along, nothing to see here.

You mean, when the 4GB prototypes made recognizable suboptimal design parameters, that remained hidden before?

I won't call them suboptimal design parameters (but I don't recall the details anymore), just that it turned out making 4gb to be more difficult than anticipated. But iirc, those problems were solved a long time ago, anyway.

I should have specified, it could appear to be unfair towards people that paid full price for a 4gb model. I honestly have no issue with 2gb buyers getting a free upgrade while we pay more for the same device. More happy Pyra users!

and the employer gave a day's wage to the hired hand who came at the end of the day. so when it came round to the employee who had worked all day, they thought they would receive more -- but alas they too received a day's wage. "but boss, we have born the heat of the day, and you gave those who worked only an hour the same as us."

the boss replied, "did you not agree to a day's wage for your work?" "i guess", replied the hired hand. "then don't be upset that i am generous, for you shall receive a 4GB pyra as per our contract."

I don't quite see, how the effort for that employer to scale the wage compares to the effort for ED to scale the RAM of only 22 devices in mass production. Now of course, one could propose, that all devices get produced with 4GB and 22 devices get half their RAM destroyed after, but that seems quite silly to me.
