Final preorders, action required

Ed wrote it (I edited it a little, just grammar) and the survey can only be accessed by people with remaining preorders. The email is quite long:

Hello,

First of all, sorry for the fact you still don't have your Pandora

And thanks a lot for your ongoing support, it's really appreciated and

we hope we will be able to reward that soon.

Please read this eMail carefully - as it links to a survey you have to

fill out.

If you haven't followed the full story during the last four years, you

can find a brief summary here:

http://boards.openpandora.org/index.php/page/articles.html/_/general-information/the-history-of-the-pandora-r57

Basically, besides all the delays where some were caused by us being

inexperienced and some because companies didn't give us a high

priority, the biggest issue was the PCB production company in Texas

which managed to break over 1000 PCBs... parts worth more than 300,000

EUR were lost with that. A crushing blow, especially for a small group

like ourselves...

Since then the production has been moved to Germany, everything is going

smoothly now. Things have been moving forward quite a lot during the

last year, and while we're regularly delivering units to our longtime

customers, we'd love to be able to speed up the whole process so you

can get your Pandora as fast as possible.

Production is fast enough to deliver all remaining units within

one week - the only thing preventing us from doing that is money. Right

now, we're using all the profit from new sales to ship out the

remaining preorders, as well as donations from forum members.

However, there are other ways to speed up the delivery of the remaining

units, and this is what we now want to do. It's already possible for

every preorderer to update to an instantly delivered 1GHz unit for

production costs price, which is 270 EUR (excl. VAT) Based on the

feedback we got from some of you, there's a general interest to upgrade

to the 1GHz Pandora, however, the price is too high for most of you.

That's why we want to try to give you a better offer.

To be able to do that, we have to gather accurate statistics, so

please fill out the following survey. It will help us create a

well-thought out plan for the delivery of the remaining units.

Important (in case you want to upgrade):

You will NOT have to make any payment before your unit is ready to be

shipped! We will notify as soon as it's ready and will send you a

voucher. You can then use the voucher at EvilDragons Shop

(www.dragonbox.de) and the Pandora will be shipped right away, without

any further waiting.

And of course: I know everyone would love to get the upgrade as cheap

as possible. However, every EUR we get more significantly speeds up the

delivery of the remaining units. So please don't simply select the

cheapest option, but think about it and choose the one you REALLY would

be fine with.

Thanks a lot for your patience and support - without the support of the

community, we would've given up a long time ago, but we want this to work

and for you to receive your Pandora.

Even today it is still a totally unique machine and offers amazing, heavly

optimised performance, the latest emulator releases include an NDS emulatior!

Got it. Although I don't want to spend more then a total of €150,- on a 1GhZ unit, in the spirit of everyone who can doing a bit more to solve this I went for the € 150,- without VAT option thus putting in an extra €30,- for the cause.

Thanks Craig and ED for closing the ranks and get this survey out that gives clear options for everyone. I think you are doing everyone, including yourselves, a big favor with this.

p.s. In reality I blame Skeezix for spending more then I was planning, I just want to get stuck into all that Compo4all fun.  :D

is the order number the google order number, or the ####3letters### number i see in my reciept i got from google checkout?

You can put them both in the large text box if you want to. It's not essential.

I see this seems to be working and the data is filling up, I'll send the rest of the emails in the morning.

As of 20:48 Central Time (2 AM or so GMT?) I haven't received an e-mail (in Spam or otherwise). I guess I'll check tomorrow. :)

Don't worry, I'll be sure to post here once they are all sent and then we can deal with any missing emails. I'll probably spend all tomorrow with that.

What about the folks that received their Pandora and are waiting for the tv-out cables ?

Sounds good, Craig. I look forward to the day all preorders are fulfilled and we can all let out a collective sigh of relief.

FWIW, 'Evildragons shop' should be 'Evildragon's shop' if we're fixing grammar, if it's worth updating it before sending out the rest - though I doubt anyone will really care.

Yes it does. There is an option in the survey.

Argh, missed that one. I'll fix it before the next batch, thanks.

It's nice to see a really positive, moderated thread about the pre-order situation for once...

I agree. This one might be positive because it is actually about making progress :)

The only reward me and many others here would need, would be a successor to the Panda, some day in the future :)

Even if it will be just as expensive.

The only thing i would ask, is that you get out of debts with it, instead of deeper into it, no matter how great the panda is, its not worth making someone go down under for.

Rock on Craigx, things will get better.

I agree, this is great to see Craig back too and OP getting things moving.

Just filled out my survey, I'd like to upgrade to the 1Ghz model, I couldn't afford to pay the top level though ... I selected a middle ground which I could scrape together if I was offered one at that additional cost.

My fingers will remain crossed, probably can manage 2 months or so before they get cramp.

Good times ahead I feel :)

Oh, man, that was some hard choices.  Until recently I was determined to stick with my original order on a matter of principle, but I so want to upgrade.. just to help everyone out.  But I just don't have the money :(   I ticked the cheapest upgrade option, which sadly is all I would be able to manage.  If there was anyway of getting that deal, I'm sure I'd later donate more to make up for it.
