Thought you were busy with all sorts of other stuff and since ED is now mostly in charge of the pandora i figured why not just ask him.

Well anyways, i am glad that got sorted out in the end, thanks for letting me know craig. ^_^

    Finally some report.

    I'm still working on Pandoras.

On Monday I prepared all chargers for packaging.

Yesterday I made 140 lids. 460 more to do.

Making lids is nice. It's no easy work but I don't have to anger about silly problems like non working L-buttons.

Link why aren't you here? The lids want to have fun with you.

Today: Mord lids to do, and more lids, and more lids....and then cleaning up all the dirt I will produce ;)

    Thanks for the update! :)

Would love to help if I were in the area... hard to do so from halfway across the globe, tho. :p

Oh lids, how do your hands feel? Sorry I can't be there, thought there'd be a batch of Pandoras coming into the US by now. But F'n Murphy doesn't want to leave us be.

    I love lids. Really.

It's not that annoying than scratching L-Buttons and not that simple than preparing Keymates.

Yesterday: I've put all the remaining 460 Lcd's into their fronthousing. They don't have speakers or WIfi antennas. We run out of both. I also cut the speaker cables for ED. He can put them on the Lcd cabel now.

Today ED will visit Global Components. They'll check out the broken boards for mistakes.

I'll go to his house and put the 140 done Lids and the rest of the Pandora housing together. Don't konw what else I'll do.

That an useless argument. Just dig a verry deep hole to our side of the globe and you can help us. :p :p

I can get faster, we simply run out of materials.

I think next week (if I get speakers and oll the oter stuff I need) I'm done with all Pandora lids and housing.

GC will do the rest then. It doesn't make sence to test the boards here and sent the broken ones back.

Everything comes to an end. Even 1000 Pandoras.

Hi all. Only recently I discovered Pandora, and I'm very amazed that a bunch of enthusiasts managed to create such a great device. I'm into electronics as well (mostly hobbyist), and I work for a company that makes electronic equipment, and I know how much work it requires to make this stuff.

I definitely 'want' a Pandora in my hand, but I can't afford it at the moment, so I will have to wait for I don't know how long. I hope the project will flourish, so in the future I will be able to commit some programs too.

I've got an idea: what would you think about providing, for those who want, Pandoras in a 'do-it-yourself' state, i.e. all necessary parts and screws apart, so people like me could assemble them by themselves. Yes, I would definitely like to get it that way. Of course the board and components would have to be fully tested. But that's just a suggestion, I won't cry if you refuse it :) .

    Good luck with the production.

P.S. What is the best place to write about the forum's technical stuff? Other forums often have a special section for this, I couldn't find one here.

Hello and welcome to the boards!

Yes, like DaMummy said, a self building kit Pandora would have about the same cost. But if you want to do it for fun, ED might be able to arrange something for you.

About Technical stuff, you might want to post into the general Talk section or in the General talk section in the Developement subsection.

Thanks. Yes, I meant it only for fun. I will ask ED when I'm about buying it.

I meant technical issues of the forum, not of the Pandora :)

I would love a do-it-yourself Pandora as well. :) Would it chop any time off getting one, though? That'd really be my reason for going that route. Plus, by doing so, you could see how it all goes together, and possibly appreciate all the more how complicated the device is.

 Well... I could try, but I think you guys will be done with every order before I get there. Imagine the phrases I could use after I get back, however...

"I went thru hell and back to help build the Pandora!"

"Not even the world could stop me from helping the team!"

"My interest in the Pandora project runs very, very deep."

There will be some pandora parts left over from refurbishing/repairing or upgrading old Pandoras. Of course some must always be kept for RMAs (repairs).

However, some Pandoras will be available for less money because they havebroken WiFi, a broken nub or some other defect. EvilDragon has already stated this. Perhaps you can save for one of these less expensive ones?

There should also be 256MB Texan Pandoras going cheap at some stage when some original owners have swapped for a 512MB German one.

    Report first:

135 Pandora housings are nearly done. The Keymats aer in the office but the housings at ED's house. Stuff like Lightpipes and buttons are done.

I put 449 hinches into the plastic housing and prepared some wifi cables.

Tomorrow I will go on with the remaining lids.

@Zink: Why do you want to build your Pandora on your own? If you simply want to know what's insde and how everything wrks just open up a completely built unit and put it together then. I don't know whether it's good for the spare parts if they are shipped as such and not as complete Pandora.

 Don't talk so much  .

Start with that hole and help me :p !! ... or do you want me to come?

I already offered ED to help via e-mail. I am still waiting for an answer. I cannot afford the train ticket on my own but if he would be willing to help out with the costs i would be there in no time :)

I also offered to help with his mail backlog since I have over a year experience in customer support.

It doesn't seem to come up much, so that sort of thing tends to end up in the Off Topic section. :p

Welcome to forum, by the way. :)

As saied I think I'll be ready next weak. There's no need for you to come anymore. I just have to perpare the housings. GC will put the boards inside and test them.

    Thanks for the offer.

I live in Munich, so I'd be at GC in like half an hour or in Ingolstadt in like 90 mins. I offered to help but ED never gave me a call so I assume that he does fine without me.
