However, there are still 2 extremely disturbing things from my childhood I am not sure I am enlightened enough to welcome into my heart...

Parsnips...
...and Brussel Sprouts...

Hehe :)
The parsnips are for my granny's beef soup recipe, can't have it without. And I don't even need anything to go with the the sprouts, blanched and then quickly roasted with a dash of sugar. But it's an acquired taste for sure. This talk is making me peckish - time for swiss sausage salad. À la grandma of course.

And, uh, I guess congrats for making peace with those disease-bearing, life essence-leeching insect nosferatu? Your patience is admirable :)

Late last night I finally made peace with something that's been disturbing me since early childhood...

... Mosquitoes...

I now can see and understand their place / purpose in the infinite kaleidoscope of being that is life / the living creation.

May the Nine Divine help you if you think that'll make a real-world difference. Ever had so many mosquitoes and termites come out at night that pest control had to roll out?

Those little shits have no purpose other than to survive as parasites, and I award the biggest middle fingers to whoever created them (if they're created).

Not sure that works terribly well. The nearest book to me was a French/English dictionary. The first complete sentence on page 45 is the example sentence for the word Compléter. "Complétez les phrases suivantes." (Complete the following sentences.) :)

For me it is:

"Der Papenberg, ein Tiefenanzeiger, zwischen den Rundscheiben der Tiefenmanometer mit ihren Drehzeigern, sieht aus wie ein großes Thermometer."
- p45 in "Das Boot" by Lothar-Günther Buchheim

Okay...

Officially fixed the speedometer on my 68 CA77.... yayyyyyyy

Kinda creepy...apparently "the Lord" granted me my life for my preservation. The name I go by was given. Too bad I don't believe in that lord it mentioned. It seems he believes in me.

In English it might have a meaning you are overlooking. ;)

I still haven't finished with all the plants I need to transplant. I recently murdered a bunch of babies that FaeMinx may not have approved of killing (they were skeeter larvae). I scared and "chased" my local rabbit, as it was eating along a fence I was trying to walk around, and it kept hopping to where I was going. Despite being so terrible lately I have felt better than usual.

All the seedlings that I have transferred to the new bed have been eaten by birds within a day. Need to build a cover from some rabbit fence and start all over.

Also can't deal with the heat, helped a friend paint a room and needed a lie-down immediately after. I feel like having a stroke any day now :(

"Stand fast in faith! Be strong!" And then he bid us "good-bye, and God bless us!" and wuz gone.

..... yeah I don't know.

However if we want to be technical my Pandora with my stories on it are the closet actually to me!

So my two stories available to pick from have..

"I felt my heels scrape against the ground as he pushed me."

And

" Sunlight flooded the room as I opened my eyes and the realization of the events from last night flooded over me."

Which seem more like my real life.

The story that was open I couldn't post the first sentence because I'd prefer to not have a nasty chat with the mods.

However, Erasmus never broke off completely with the catholic church, like Luther an Calvijn.

page 45 - "Kijk-Leesboek van de vaderlandse geschiedenis" - Cor Steentjes & Jan van Exter. (fragment has been translated, as the book is in Dutch)

The Erasmus mentioned is Erasmus from Rotterdam, the guy that gave us the Textus Receptus

Yeah, pretty accurate.

:p

My ebook reader was probably closer to me than that book. (Both are next to me again, with the reader about 6 inches away, and the book next to it, and about a foot away. Within ten feet or so I have a dozen or so books to reference while reading and taking notes.) With 600+ ebooks, magazines, and articles it would be difficult for me to say which one is closest. Funny thing about some of those ebooks its that they are different English translations of the same stuff from Latin, Greek, French, Italian, German, Chinese, etc. Some are also translations from multiple manuscripts of the same books, sometimes written in different languages. Others are compiled/"reconstructed" from a variety of manuscripts. One I find particularly interesting is a collection of translations and notes of a bunch of manuscripts of the same book, or at least very closely related ones (some are missing certain sections that others have). I wish I could afford more books.

I finally got all the plants in their new homes. A couple are looking a bit worse off, and a few have exploded with new growth over just the last two days.

I am trying to find places to volunteer that aren't thrift stores. I don't really know how to do that without coming off as super strange.

I'm in a really bad place right now. I'm reaching out to people I've known on social media and no one wants to connect with me. Friends... former co-workers. My friend count is literally 0 (in life and on the internet).

My boss at the library is a condescending jerk. I took a book out and she said "Oh, you'll like that one. It has a lot of pictures."

And now my parents are insisting on forcing more pills down my throat because I got angry about how my life is going and slammed my bedroom door.

I'm optimistic it will get better but I don't know how. The world can just be so cold.

I also have a zero friend count. On the internet it's because the more someone wants to know me, the less I trust them.

In real life it's because I am so so tired of humans misaprehending me, I much prefer to spend time with myself - who at least is making a real effort to unravel the mysteries and oddities of my existence. I tolerate them and am polite and helpful where I can be... But I just do not have the energy, or interest to deal with humans and their issues (especially if they try to make me a part of them).

Thankfully I don't work for anyone... So the only condescending arse I have to deal with in my work is me.

... There are some delusional egoic fear driven voices that I sometimes hear... But I'm getting better and better at ignoring them...

I too would like a friend... But after a lifetime of experience, I've found that the sacred thing I call friendship... What I require at least, only I can give to myself.

Being with myself I feel safe and at home. When I was younger and looked for friendship outside myself (and had human friends)... I was so terribly lonely it was unbearable.

They ended up betraying me and abusing me. But the fault was mine because it was I that betrayed and abused myself by not being a true friend to me.... I can't blame them, they were simply an external manifestation of my own unconsciousness at the time.
