Release UAE4All new version

I didn't test that much yet, but noticed that the font in "AmigaDOS"-windows, which sometimes appear while booting (e.g. for DungeonMaster), is pretty garbled and almost unreadable. I tried different scaling-methods, but nothing seems to improve the quality. Is that a known issue or is something wrong with my configuration?

Not sure if this is of interest, but according to my tests "Gravity Force" does not run. I tried all different engines and several different game-versions along with differing settings. Every time I start a game from the ingame-menu, the emulation hangs.

Updated version is up:

http://repo.openpand...ail&app=uae4all

Fixed the startup-script so that necessary dirs should get created now.

Added the possibility to change the values for "CutLeft", "CutRight" and "DisplayedLines" on the fly (outside the GUI):

L+R + 9/0 changes number of displayed lines (9 decrements, 0 increments it).

L + . (period) cuts left border, L + , (comma) "uncuts" it.

R + . cuts right border, R + , uncuts it.

Updated readme accordingly.

you do realise as you have maintainer access you can edit the additional info too :)
Yeah, but I'm no maintainer. I can upload the PND but I don't have any administration functions on the repo (while I do have them in snes9x4p).

Thus @EvilDragon: please also add the following changelog:

Changelog 2011-12-30:

* added convenience functions to change screen dimensions on the fly (outside the gui)

* updated documentation

I got a bit more success by manually adding "conf" dir inside the uae4all appdata dir.

Now I can get per game configs to save. I cannot save global settings though.

It also created the roms dir file... but I had to manually edit it to point to my sd card.

I suggest you add some bash checking in the runme to create this folder at least.
Okay, corrected the runme-script.

You should delete "uaeconfig.conf" - then saving global settings should work.

Jolly good show, buy yourself a pint as a reward!
Will definitely do that tomorrow. Multiple pints! ;)

Really like your updates, big improvements this time. This has probably been asked before, and it's nothing urgent, but would it be possible to set the Mhz clock speed of the amiga? If we could set it to 14mhz instead of 7mhz we could get a nice performance boost for games like Wings.
Yeah, that would be great. Should be possible I guess. Just don't know how and where (yet).

That's because the emu runs in lores (low resolution mode). If you set WinUAE to lores the Workbench fonts will look just as bad. For Workbench usage you should use hideki's pandeuae-port.

But UAE4All running in lores has no negative effect on games as they all run in lores, too (well, 99.9% do).

Updated :)

One weird thing happens for me (didn't try the latest version, but I don't think something hast changed):

It seems the first 2 - 4 lines are missing on the top.

For example, the top of Apidya, Superfrog or Pinball Dreams is cut off, regardless what I set the scaling settings to.

It would also be great to be able to manually select the top starting line. Some games (like Rock'n'Roll) show black bars on the top of the screen, so you can't scale them to the full height with the current release :)

Just wanted to add my thanks. Tearing fully resolved and being able to alter resolutions and screen position on the fly works really well.

Thanks.

Yes you can - for this there is the "vertical positioning" function. Just Hold the L- and R-triggers and use dpad up/down to adjust the vertical position of the displayed gfx (this value also gets saved and restored when you choose "save config").

OK... it's definitely working better... but I atill can't save global settings... and there is no "uaeconfig.conf" file to delete... I'm confuzzled.
Hmm...sorry, only other advice I could give would be to delete *.* in conf/.

Ah, whoops, damn.

I thought vertical was left / right, so I didn't try it :D

Hi John,

Great work, the new options work well and add a lot to the emulator.

I have come accross a couple of minor issues;

The first relate to disk selection. I´m playing a gam that has three disks but UAE only supports two drives. If you insert disk 1 & 2 and save the config all works fine. However, if i want to take disk 2 out of DF1 and replace it with disk 3 it won´t let me. If i use the selector to pick disk 3 for DF1 when i go back to the main menu disk 2 is still present. It looks as though the saved config based on the disk in DF0 is reloading and overiding the disk selection, any ideas?

Save states work great, but when you load or save a savestate the disply settings are messed up, this can be overcome by entering the main menu and then going back to the game, so it is not a big issue.

Many thanks for all your work so far

Thanks for your continued testing. Fixed both bugs and also the PND saving issue which PokeParadox reported.

New version up:

Changelog 2011-12-31:

- fixed bug "can't change disks in DF1-DF3" when config was saved for game before

- fixed bug "doesn't save general config"

- update display settings when loading/saving savestate through GUI

I´m playing a gam that has three disks but UAE only supports two drives.
No, it supports 4 drives - just increase the number of disk drives in the main menu.

Is there any way to scale 640x512, 640x400 and 320x256 up to 800x480? I only see an option to scale from one lowres mode up to fullscreen.

D.

320x256 yes, 640x512 and 640x400 no (as this emu's max resolution is 320x270).

Just select 320x256 as screenmode in display settings and then increase screen width to 800.

Alternatively you can press R+L+4 outside the gui to switch to 320x256 mode and then press R+L+dpad right until the full width of the Pandora's screen is used.

I've probably asked this before on other threads, but has anyone gotten First Samurai to run properly? It loads but the emulation slows and stutters, it's not really playable(and iirc I've not gotten Second Samurai to loads at all!!)

Update "Manual Autofire"/"Autofire rate":

4 Joystick control modes available now (Misc. Options):

  1. (A)=Turbofire, (X)=Fire, (Y)=Space, (B )=2nd firebutton
  2. (A)=Fire, (X)=Turbofire, (Y)=Space, (B )=2nd firebutton
  3. (A)=Turbofire, (X)=Jump/Up, (Y)=Fire, (B )=2nd firebutton
  4. (A)=Fire, (X)=Jump/Up, (Y)=Turbofire, (B )=2nd firebutton

"Turbofire" equals "Manual Autofire" meaning it's autofire as long as you press that button.

[R]+(Y) still toggles "Auto Autofire" on/off (meaning steady autofire without the need to press a button).

Also added the option to set the autofire rate in misc. options: "Light", "Medium" and "Heavy" autofire rates are available.

Control mode and autofire rate can be saved generally and per game (gets automatically restored).

Grab the new version here:

http://repo.openpand...ail&app=uae4all

Note: Old .conf-files are incompatible with this new release - so you have to delete *.conf in pandora/appdata/uae4all/conf/!

- fixed bug "can't change disks in DF1-DF3" when config was saved for game before

- fixed bug "doesn't save general config"

- update display settings when loading/saving savestate through GUI

Now that Notaz's SDL supports Nubs as mouse and touchscreen (AFAIK), is there any chance that this PND might see another update to incorporate this added goodness? (thanks as ever to everyone for all their work on Pandora software!!) :)

Currently at work. Simply replaced notaz' sdl in the pnd using PNDTools.

Please test if it works:

UAE4ALLv1.1.1.27.pnd

If it does I'll then upload to the repo.
