Trey?

There's nothing I can do about being told lies except for trying to make that not happen anymore in the future, which is why Trey is visiting them.

Are they going to ship as they complete 'x' amount of boards in stages, or will they ship when all boards are done?

That's up to us for decide. We try to not have too many shipments (as that would cost a fortune), but we also want to continue shipping as soon as possible.

As Trey will check up regularly, we can decide when we know how many finished boards there really are.

production should still be happening very quickly.
You seriously can't be that naive. You've been claiming this for a full year now.

I respect that you are trying to cheer us up Michael. You're even quite good at it. But production has not happened and will not happen quickly. Don't trust them and don't believe their schedules. You should at least double every schedule given and plan around that.

Thank you for finally starting to take some control over the situation. If you keep this up, you might even ship in 2011.

Don't shoot the messenger, especially if it's our lovely ED :(
And especially as he's probably even more upset by all that than we are. Actually I think he shows a very positive attitude and composure if we take into account all the bullsh*t he had to go through. Thumbs up ED!

I guess I'll wait for your larger update ED, but I was just wondering if it's not 2000, then how many do we have? Trey going there today though will be a big step at holding them on a tighter leash, but as you say, they've only got impetus when the nubs are there. So did the nub company have a date in mind for the PCBs for the nubs arriving at theirs?

Thanks for keeping us up to date ED, and thanks to Trey for taking the time to do this.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I'm glad I can give back to the community.

My goal today was to see every pandora board they had. No if, ands, or buts. Show me some boards!

Okay, I know none of us want to hear it but here it is: I counted just under 500 boards that were post SMT. What does that mean? That means boards with at LEAST all the standard surface mount components installed. Does that mean there aren't finished boards? No. The boards were in a various array of stages, everything from baking in the oven, SMT done and ready for OMAP ram, waiting on pre-nub testing, waiting on nubs, waiting on final testing, and complete.

It's unfortunate that the company has chosen to not give us accurate estimates, and those actions will only continue to hurt their credibility as a company.

But I will continue to visit CC and prod, poke, and make a general nuisance of myself as much as needed to keep them honest and producing boards. We will have our Open Pandoras.

And on to the good news!

* They have new nubs in hand

* They have four stations of people attaching new nubs to boards

* They have stations separating the LCD cables and testing them

* They had people testing boards

* They had boards baking while I was there

* They are producing pandora boards now

What I'm doing for the community is SHOWING what CC has. And from what I've seen, I'm confident that we will receive our OPs.

What fun would a post be without some pretty pictures. ED may post all of them on the official site, otherwise i'll post the rest here later. Here are a few. Enjoy!

My 2 Cents:

Todays info is no suprise, and also no cause for alarm! Until a few weeks ago, why would the board company need to build anything? There job has always been dependant on the nubs being ready, and that just recently happened. The new nubs just arrived there earlier in the week.

The boards have been well manufactured, and function as they should, now that the nub problems have been solved, now they will get back to work. Why would these guys waste time building boards, when it has been stated in the past that they don't have the room for storage? Now they know that Open Pandora has solved their own problems, and now they will meet there obligations.

Nothing More, Nothing Less!

Somehow despite the bad news, these pictures made me all warm and fuzzy inside. Thanks Trey, here is what the community feels towards you:

Agreed, I'm not surprised. However that doesn't change that they are a bunch of lying d***s. They should have said. We won't build anything until the nubs are here, instead of saying we have built thousands.

It's a LOT harder to lie to someone in person than it is on the phone or in email. I'll stick to them.

I'm With Jumpman, I've worked in similar jobs as the PCB company.. If I was in their shoes and didn't have a proper supply of parts I would of just move priority to another customer until a good supply did show.. Simple as that.

I know this has been a touchy subject and a lot of emotions flying around.. But these things happen and like it or not they most likely still will happen.

Exactly my thoughts.

And don't forget one thing: If we couldn't have the nub problem solved, we could've gone bust as well!

As we have a deal with CC to pay after delivery, they would've built boards and lost money in case we went bust... probably something they don't want.

As long as they don't build the boards, they wouldn't lose anything.

And as they wanted to keep us calm, they probably told us that so many boards are finished - since they didn't expect we can send someone to check up.

I'm as sad as you are about not as many boards finished as they told us (probably even more sad, as I have A LOT more money in that project than any of you here, and Craig has even more in it...) and I can only hope you won't give up now, as that would hurt me (not only for the money, but also personally... as I dedicated a lot of my time and life into it and now that work has resumed... it would really be sad).

There are two big differences now compared to the last months:

1. The nubs are finally there and proven to be working. As it currently looks like, all needed ones will be there before the end of this year!

2. We've got someone to check out they're really working on it.

These two points are the most important ones for me. And as long as you don't turn your back on us, these should be enough to make sure more Pandoras will be in the wild soon.

But I would hope that you wouldn't constantly insist to the customer that you were working on their parts, and outright lie about how many you had produced.

Hmm, will they? I thought you said they stopped production until after the holidays. Are they producing nubs as we speak?

That's what I don't like about that as well... but they probably wanted to keep us calm and shut up since we were always asking for updates.

They knew we never did something like that before and didn't want to scare us ;)

That's why I'm MORE than happy that we have Trey now :D

Correct, I don't condone the lying.. I just understand what they did in a manufacturing sense of prioritizing their work.

Edit: Also did you guys see that Goatee that CEO has, I have a goatee but mine doesn't project evil like that guy's does... Could explain some of the lying..
