Have heard that lots of times, but I still don't quite believe it. I'm pretty sure it doesn't strain the eyes much more than regular reading, but it probably strains the brain more which has more OCR (optical character recognition) work to do.Do long periods of reading in dim light cause damage to eyes? I used to get told this, but I still do it.I just like books better because they don't damage my body
I'm no doctor, so this is really just a feeling. To me claiming this seems similar to claiming it would damage the ears if you listen to music which isn't loud enough because you strain them too much.
Edit: But I'm pretty sure reading isn't really good for the eyes in general, can't be good to intensely stare at a thing close to you for hours, always repeating the same movements of the eyes.
