my suggestion to you would be to temporarily avoid any physical figurines or unnecessarily big posters of Miku, and instead focus on thinking about the character herself and what you actualy love about her.
I gave that a go on Tuesday, it worked rather well, also yesterday I tried spending the day without Miku, it turned out to be one of the most horrible days I've had in a very long while. About the madness thing, you're a bit late I'm afraid because I went mad years ago. :)

A fellow student in a philosophy course many years ago used that as a proper explanation of stuff. Teacher says "Well, the rational and wise (Rationell och klok) thing to do here would be..." Student: "But I'm insane ("inte klok", not wise)! I have a signed paper from the doctors saying so!"

She also used to decide what books to take out from the library based on what her peacock feather told her.

I just worry about you Strigoi. This Miku thing is what leads to being an old man wearing girls underwear because it's soft and comfortable.

The madness i was refering too is not the same as the one you seem to describe. Trust me, the one i mentioned is the kind that leaves people broken inside for a good portion of their lives; Your "going mad" for Miku is mearly a childs play in compariosn.

Anyway, please have my warnning in mind and be careful not to slip. Do it wrong once and you will just end up betraying both yourself and your love for Miku, inflicting a good amount of damage to yourself while at it.

Even though i don't really know you, as far as i have seen you don't seem to me like one of those lost people (though, it could be that both of us just misunderstand each other).

I won't be asking you to go into details, but could it be that you're just overexerting?

The only thing Strigoi's said that concerned me is how much he owes Miku for times past. That strikes me as an odd relationship to have to mass media, and I think it's important to remember that there's only one person who ultimately gets you through hard times, and that's yourself. You're the one who managed your problems and got you through them.

The things that made me the man I am today.

Family history:

Depression, mother + father have it, nan had it, nan's uncle did a Kurt Cobain.

OCD, mother has it.

Addictive behaviour, late grandad was a gambling addict, one of my cousins was a drug addict.

Environment:

Parents divorced, dad stole from me, tried to use me as a weapon against my mother, constantly let me down, a so called friend screwed me over, was bullied (punched, kicked, spat at, called names, had fingers bent back) for 7 years of my school life, my ex girlfriend who I absolutely adored broke up with me via text message.

What I gained from this.

Depression, OCD, very low self esteem, social anxiety, a dislike of crowds/people in general, slight agoraphobia, an addictive personality, selective mutism (when I was younger), trust issues.

If it wasn't for her I'd be in a much worse state than what I am now (believe it or not) + if I relied on myself to sort out my problems what would happen is... absolutely nothing, because I take a rather dim view of my own wellbeing.

I would suggest eating lots of tomatoes. Lycopen has this side-effect, and it is exclusive to the tomato.

I dont know if its an anti-depressant or if it cures depression to begin with.

In any event it wont hurt.

Lycopene is found in tomatoes, carrots, parsley and watermelon, and other things I've not eaten yet, according to wikipedia. It reckons it might be associated with a lower risk of prostate cancer, but it doesn't say anything about it having the properties of an anti-depressant. But like you say, good nutrition doesn't hurt.

Lycopene is also found in other things, but tomato is very easy to procure. More lycopen can be digested by mashing the tomatoes.

I dont really know what does it, but the effect seems to be specific to tomatoes, so since we know that works, i suggested it  http://www.jad-journal.com/article/S0165-0327%2812%2900396-5/abstract

The study seem to have a bad selection bias. It implies you develop the type of things tomatoes can prevent. It doesnt have a control group, so for all we know symptoms come and go with tomato intake.

Also, very severe depression might shorten lifespan to below 70 due to suicide.

That being said, tomato and depression are positivly linked, thats all i would say. We also know state of happiness is linked to long life, so tomato tip along with friendship is maybe the two things i can provide Stringoi.

You need a specialist to help you here. But here's a few notes :

All these are not permanent... if you want to.

The main point here (at least for me) is your low self esteem. That can be fighted. Each little victory in your ife can be used to grow your self esteem. Start by easyly reachable success. Then build up to the next 9a little less) easy victory. Over time and as you grow the difficulties of your challanges, you'll learn that you're an able man just like the next one. If you ever fail a challange, dont see this as a failure but as an opportunity to grow better.

Your addiction looks like a way to split you from the rest of the world. With your Miku addiction, you look like a weirdo to most. That's reassuring as it clearly limit the will to interact with you from others. You love miku because she is a protective shield against the rest of the world. You'll need to fight this one way or an other to help yourself grow your selfesteem.

One of the things I've learned recently is that just getting out there and meeting people won't help your self esteem and social issues on their own, as your low self esteem will make sure you focus on the small things that didn't go perfectly, and skip over the things that went okay. It can help to write down your experiences as soon as possible, before you've had time to dwell on it too long, and to write down how you think your problems affect your life, and what you can do to disprove the theories you've built up about yourself. From my experience, social anxiety looks like the root problem, as that can cause self esteem issues, depression, agoraphobia and the rest, except possibly for OCD.

That said, I'm really hesitant to diagnose anyone over the internet. It's possibly one of the least valuable ways of getting to the root of the problem, though it does help that Strigoi is being very open.

@Kingu I take it you mean that tomatoes and depression are negatively correlated, not the other way round, else your advice would be very counterintuitive. Hmm, now that's a very negative sentence :)

That's nothing new people have always viewed me as being a weirdo no matter what the circumstances.

She'd make a pretty bad shield considering that only 2 people irl know about my feelings toward her, my current shields are much more effective, which are leaving the house as little as possible and my if you come near me I'll fucking kill you default facial expression. As for the actual reasons why I love her, they're just the usual reasons really.

From my experience, social anxiety looks like the root problem, as that can cause self esteem issues, depression, agoraphobia and the rest, except possibly for OCD.
I can't remember which one was first, I do remember it wasn't the OCD though.

@Strigoi: Your life had been harsh on you indeed, but after all of what you had mentioned in this thread (and your own one), i still don't think you're in the kind of state i was refering to.

If anything, dispite all the pain and trauma life had brought on to you, i am able to see strength in your words. Afterall, you did manage to keep on going in your own way in life, in which you managed to fight and shunn away the very same sins that scarred you psychologically. You even fought strong enough to find Love that brought warmth and comfort to your heart after all of what you had been through. I have seen cases where people didn't manage as well in these kinds of fights for surviveal, people who later set themselves on the path of becoming the very thing they hate, the very same kind of thing that hurt them in the past; And yet here you are alive and kicking.

Some may not understand it, but i think this very pain you have experinced through your life is what made you stronger rather than weaker as some may portray it. It is what made you able to keep going and fight off the world that just wanted to use and burry you. Sure it left you with psychological scars that are indeed serious, but as sebt3 said - they are still treatable if you choose to attend them (and if you ask for my opinion, it is wise to do so before they get infected ;) ).

You may already had discovered this yourself, but not everybody you see is part of that same world that hurt you. Like the good people here who try to support you, there are good people who fight similar fights as yours, people that i think may misunderstand you the same way that you may misunderstand them. Which can be unfortunate, as i think those good people can become your comrades and aid you in crisis, maybe even help you with your wounds.

The watchful way you have now is good, but i would suggest to keep an eye for the good people who roam the world the same way you do. You may not believe it at first, but they may hold answers you wouldn't expect to find and be more of an aid to you than you think, in the same way you could also be of an aid to them. These answers eventually might help you find a place of peace away from the world, a place that may cure the pain from the scars.

Eitherway, it's importnat to stay strong. Be yourself and not what the world wants you to be, stay strong and watchful against it and don't let it infect you with it's sicknesses.

@comradekingu: Man, tomatoes have that kind of stuff in them? and here i was disliking the fruit for so long.

Not only that, but the lycopene gets more accessible for the body if the tomaoes are heated up in an acidic and sweet environment.

In other words: Rigth there is a health argument for pouring tomato ketchup all over your food :D

LOL, I always thought the Ketchup was and evil aliment from hell, looking at all the bad statistics about American Fast-Foods, but actually I'm changing my mind, also I didn't know it came from Asia...

There is a comparative Tomato and Ketchup nutrition table in the wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketchup

I can't remember which one was first, I do remember it wasn't the OCD though.
I am feeling far better since I am visiting a therapist who helps me to work on my fears. In some western countries a therapist (psychology) is paid by health insurrance, so you don't need money to do a therapie. It helps a lot.
