Slackware for Pandora 14.0

Thanks for your digging ;)
Asked a friend 'cause i'm unable to find a solution alone.

Meanwhile, i think you should try to compile the git version, maybe the .img bug is corrected ?

Code:
git clone git://git.qemu-project.org/qemu.git

If the bug still exists, then compile with debug and send them the logs.

Amazingly good job, Linux-SWAT! I finally had some time to try out SL4P, and it is beautiful. Using RC5 right now. and learning a new OS is always fun. I really like all the extras you included.

Two things I seem to not be able to figure out:

1) I cannot get any PND to work. I insert a 2nd SD card in right slot, click "green check", and PNDs show up in menu, but never launch. I checked compatibility list, too. I could not get new PNDs to download directly via pndmanager either.

2) I would like to install some programs via Gslapt, but using the repository from slackbuilds.org - could not get this to work. Any ideas?

1) check picodrive and pcsx-rearmed, they work flawlessly.

If they fail, plz show me their logs in /tmp

2) Gslapt and slackbuilds.org are two different things.

Gslapt installs pre-compiled binaries (from my repo).

Slackbuilds.org hosts SlackBuild scripts for automatizing installation from sources. The easiest way to use slackbuilds.org is:

http://pandorawiki.org/Software_projects/OS/Slackware#Installing_a_program_from_source

I also had lots of PND problems including PCSXReARMed and FireFox

I'll try again without DisplayLink and hope for the best.

The only PND I got running with DisplayLink is Keyboard Layout.

EDIT:

Picodrive fine, PCSX not.

Had your error, will dig it.
Cool thx :)

This Version is the best working Version.

Maybe you can Compile it with

--target-system-list=i386softmmu,i386-linux-user (or near for I386Emulation and the Qemu Usermode i386 for experimenting :D )

and

--audio-card-list=ac97,sb16,adlib ^_^

in the standart Configure is adlib and ac97 not included

Thanks for your digging ;)

I have a qemu user mode compiled (v1.3rc1 now, have to switch to git to be more up to date). But it doesn't work without patches.

First, you need to add NTPL patch, and then either you mess with "binfmt", or you hack in the source the "execev" syscall, because new process lauched are native by default...

I have a setup runing, trying to experiments things, but I manly have segfault now (I tried yesterday with Skype, but syscall 11 ! segementation fault). Maybe I have a problem with my toolchain, so I'm (still) compiling gcc 4.7.2. Once I've got that, and recompiled qemu, I can put a zip of a testbed environment if someone interrested?

I also had lots of PND problems including PCSXReARMed and FireFox

I'll try again without DisplayLink and hope for the best.
For various reasons, you can't use DisplayLink for gaming, and for some other programs.

Please report .pnd without DisplayLink only (at least for now).

Once I've got that, and recompiled qemu, I can put a zip of a testbed environment if someone interrested?
You should create a new thread for this, it's a big piece of it's own ^^. Is it for running on Slack only, or also Zaxxon ?

My report is without DisplayLink connected.

Should be "normal".

I booted without DisplayLink but used the Slackware with DisplayLink installed.

Maybe that's already a problem?

Ok.

Sounds strange to me, i don't have those problems.

Code:
./bin/xournal: error while loading shared libraries: libpoppler-glib.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

That kind of errors can be fixed with this procedure (you have to adapt it to the missing library name):

It's based on wine, and wine barely works on ARM cpus.

ptit'Seb is working on this.

But wine would not run x86 binaries anyway as long as you don't use it with qemu.

This would be too slow for most games anyway though, but could be faster than the qemu we have right now.

Had an answer.

As this compilation is non-verbose, so we need:

Code:
make V=1

Then when the make fails, we can see the actual problematic command:

Code:
gcc -lnss3 -lsmime3 -lssl3 -lsoftokn3 -lnssutil3 -lplds4 -lplc4 -lnspr4 -lsqlite3 -ldl -lrt -o vscclient cac.o event.o vcard.o vreader.o vcard_emul_nss.o vcard_emul_type.o card_7816.o ../osdep.o ../oslib-posix.o ../qemu-thread-posix.o ../qemu-malloc.o ../qemu-timer-common.o ../trace.o vscclient.o

As the error message is:

Code:
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/me/qemu-kvm-0.15.1/libcacard'

/lib/libpthread.so.0: could not read symbols: Invalid operation

we have to cd into libcacard

Code:
cd libcacard

and add -lpthread to the command line:

Code:

Launch it, then

Code:
cd ..

make

Quick update:

This time, it's optimized ! I finally succeeded in compiling pder's MPlayer2, with omapfb support and equal performance compared to his .pnd.

Spent basically three days on this, compiling, and re-compiling. I began to be very frustrated :/.

I asked help to a dev ^^'.

Luckily, his V=1 tip solved both qemu and mplayer problems :D .

BTW, qemu works, just tried it.

I feel like a super noob, but I just cant get a single PND to do anything.

SL4P is running in the left SD slot. I insert another SD cart in the right slot (if i boot with the right card in the slot, all the PNDs show up in the menu; if i insert the slot later, i click the little green "check mark". but no matter what, nothing happens at all.

Also, pndmanager seems to work to a point... i can see all the PNDs available, and i get to the point where it asks to install to the menu or desktop (I always choose menu), and from that point pndmanager just spins for minutes and minutes, looking like it is busy, but it never finishes. I cancel it, and of course it never installed a thing.

Me=n00b=fail

So, I wonder if I can just put the PND files manually on the left SD somewhere in the file system? I've seen /mnt/pnd, or maybe /pandora, or /usr/pandora/aps... Usually I am adventurous, but I dont want to do something that could ruin the installation.

Do Pndmanager installs your pnds on the right slot card ?

Yes, you can put your .pnd in /usr/pandora/apps , then the appdata folder will be (i think) /pandora/appdata/

Can you give me the output of

Code:
groups

plz ?

Also in a terminal:

Code:
sudo /usr/bin/pndrefresh.sh
