Psx4gp2x Beta Testers Thread

Hey
Worms World Party also works... a bit slow but playable....
Nice Job..!

But i have a Q...
Why There are games that don't even start? Like Diablo?

Good Job Guys...!

Diablo is from Satan, no good, God-fearing GP2X should play Diablo! I mean, even the machines name is a bible reference. Guy pinned 2 cross. Hard Rock Hallelujah!

I posted somewhere about diablo. in a raw dat file it gets the the copywrite screen and crashes, but when using the ff8 compresion method, it crashes before starting.

:( Great news but, for example my gp2x, i can overclock max to 250Mhz IF I GO TO 260Mhz freeze all.
Is important a good playable to Mhz more low.
I hope of to tee a public version for test. ^_^

So far I've tried a few games;

Double Dragon, Kingpin, Winning Eleven works fine though not playable at all. Even i tried Overclocking GP2X, Scanlines, Underclocking PSX Core combinations over all speed is not enough for these games.

Crash Bash is running with some polygon errors. This game unusually get stuck if you choose any scanline option.

Anyway it was a fantastic experience to see these games running on my little GP2X! ;) I appreciate Una-i and zodttd for their continuos effort to put this project on the run. A serious donation is ready for them. (2 pcs of Break Out Boxes) PM me your addresses! B)

Thanks again!

one question:

Does anyone have wangled to run "sports superbike 2"?
My rip runs on every pc-emu but not on my gp2x. :)

im a bit worried of that OC´eing will effect the overal morale of any emulatordev (and i mean any on the gp2x)
and reading all OC reports might suggest that an OC of 240 mhz is achivable by all gp2x units,

as they are all discarded 266mhz processors running at 200mhz for most apps (and i think GP made anouncement that the gp2x will run at 240mhz)

so i make a humble plea to the devs of Psx4gp2x please consider the community members who cant OC to the max
when the real optimizing will be done so that the emu will have acceptable perf on most units (if its possible to get acceptable perf at all that is)

cheers yaal

It's *us* that are doing the overclocking :)

Out of interest, does it work the same with PSPs? Are some people able to push their PSPs further with that N64 emulator?

It's od, how people in a retro/emulator-forum, which largely revolves around great number of different machines, can still be so... racist? Machinist? Brand-ist?

I know, how many will be saying in ten - fifteen years time: "I want something that can emulate the psp, that had some cool stuff." Fact is almost all consoles have some cool/interesting games. Personally I just like gaming and emulation so I'm happy to turn to whatever. Gp2x is great. Psp is also great. Both have drawbacks and advantages, but combined...hey it's all good. ;)

On topic, has anyone else noticed how fast FF7 is in shop areas? Damn, it runs at almost double speed! :p Crazy! Once the next beta without the polygon bug is out I'll definitely make some more vids (in general).

People are entitled to their opinions - and personally, I found the PSP to be a waste of my time. There are dozens of games, and yet only a few of them are any fun. I found this to be because of the ambitious 3D system and quirky controls. They didn't design the controls well enough to handle a 3D environment.

The GP2X has it's faults too - you move at the speed of the community, or you forge your own path. The PSP scene is pretty dry though, usually just having odd-ball apps and games which are really either limited in nature, or really doesn't excite me (crappy little minigames, etc). There are some cool things like video streaming (albeit crappy quality), or Wifi radio... but not enough in the scene of being a stable homebrew device. There is a lot of work to get the PSP running homebrew in the first place, and even when you get it running - many apps have speed issues, or bugs.

I'll stick with my GP2X - PSP is too big of a stretch for anything, mainly due to the expensive accessories (memory cards... 0_0), etc.

i sold my PSP and ive broken my GP2X and cant afford a new memory card yet to sort it out :(
and i was really enjoying the beta of PSX4GP2X. FF7 and several other games were running really well.

damn me for trying to update my firmware
