¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It wasn't going to be in the non-4G model. But ED changed his mind later, it was cheap enough to include anyway.
Around 500, unless he is willing to risk it based on overall preorder numbers.About how many people have to order the US mobile version before you can actually produce it? It's up to 45 already!
I was one of those crazy people asking for "MOAR RAM!!1!" for months. Actually, I wanted to max out the OMAP5 to 8GB "just in case". I still think 2GB will be good for most people most of the time. I wouldn'tI was one of the early 2GB ones (impression I'd got from the forum the last few days is there's hardly any use for 4GB), looked at the stock numbers a bit later, and everyone has changed their mind and gone for 4GB - did I make a mistake?
Totally. I went with a company with far inferior coverage in my area just to get their grip off my throat. Since I haven't been spending most of my time in the middle of nowhere in the woods or fields I haven't noticed much, and I have probably saved myself the cost of a couple Pyras. Not sure what the total savings would be with the rest of my family, as they went with another major company instead of MVNOs.And in any case, fuck Verizon.
I thought ED said he might add it to the standard model (in this thread, no less), but that all the other extras were a hard no for the standard model.NO, it's not. It's only in the mobile versions. Just read the product description before ordering and especially before answering questions wrong, if there's still something unanswered, you can read the FAQ.
Sales are pretty linear so far. We need to keep this pace for at least a week.
Why do I enjoy looking at that Gnuplot graph so much?

My order seems to have gone through fine (€400 + €200 voucher), but the store told me it looked like there was a problem with what I ordered. I'm assuming its all ok...
Aside from whether 2GB or 4GB is the better choice in isolation, there are disadvantages to having a minority hardware configuration. I assumed I would be in the majority when I ordered it, and would definitely want to switch if it stays like this.I was one of those crazy people asking for "MOAR RAM!!1!" for months. I wouldn'tssh(...no clue why that is what my swiping turned into, but it made me smile, so I left it) say you made a mistake, you just made the logical choice. It seems that despite all the debates over recent months most people went with the emotional choice. As WizardStan mentioned, it will probably affect battery life, and in a few months, or whenever we get them, we might wish we went with 2GB. You may have been one of the few that made the right choice. Are you thinking about switching?
I would recommend waiting until Monday evening to see if things stay like this. The first handful of people are probably mostly those that want the "best" one. Once normal people start to order the 2GB numbers might go up.Aside from whether 2GB or 4GB is the better choice in isolation, there are disadvantages to having a minority hardware configuration. Why would someone who is located "everywhere" like you care about North American mobile coverage? ☺We need more US ones to get ordered...
It's almost sure that there will be a black or dark grey version since most people want that.I guess I won't be pre-ordering then.
It's not surprising that people who want the best will go for 4gb version since people tend to think that more is better. It's like if there were a 1080p version, the majority would buy 1080p if they can afford it while it's a very stupid choice IMO.I would recommend waiting until Monday evening to see if things stay like this.
