Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

About how many people have to order the US mobile version before you can actually produce it? It's up to 45 already!
Around 500, unless he is willing to risk it based on overall preorder numbers.

I was one of the early 2GB ones (impression I'd got from the forum the last few days is there's hardly any use for 4GB), looked at the stock numbers a bit later, and everyone has changed their mind and gone for 4GB - did I make a mistake?
I was one of those crazy people asking for "MOAR RAM!!1!" for months. Actually, I wanted to max out the OMAP5 to 8GB "just in case". I still think 2GB will be good for most people most of the time. I wouldn't ssh (...no clue why that is what my swiping turned into, but it made me smile, so I left it) say you made a mistake, you just made the logical choice. It seems that despite all the debates over recent months most people went with the emotional choice. As WizardStan mentioned, it will probably affect battery life, and in a few months, or whenever we get them, we might wish we went with 2GB. You may have been one of the few that made the right choice. Are you thinking about switching?

And in any case, fuck Verizon. :p
Totally. I went with a company with far inferior coverage in my area just to get their grip off my throat. Since I haven't been spending most of my time in the middle of nowhere in the woods or fields I haven't noticed much, and I have probably saved myself the cost of a couple Pyras. Not sure what the total savings would be with the rest of my family, as they went with another major company instead of MVNOs.

NO, it's not. It's only in the mobile versions. Just read the product description before ordering and especially before answering questions wrong, if there's still something unanswered, you can read the FAQ.
I thought ED said he might add it to the standard model (in this thread, no less), but that all the other extras were a hard no for the standard model.

One thing to keep in mind about preorder numbers at this stage is that there are about 200 extra preorders listed from the prepreorder crowd. I am not included in that count since I don't have the additional funds at the moment. I will be ordering the 4GB US 4G model when I have the difference to pay for the preorder, and I will start buying vouchers so I don't get stuck in this situation again when it is time to pay the rest.

I really think ED should can the three 2GB options now. There really isn't any point to them considering :

5 preorders have chosen one of the three 2GB options

254 preorders have chosen one of the three 4GB options.

There really is no point having a process to cater for three 2GB options that basically no one is choosing

My card is getting denied:( I'm going to have to call the company and see if i can have them approve the payment to another country

I would like to hear what @Grench thinks about the 2GB vs 4GB sales so far. He was probably correct that we won't use the extra RAM too often, but I think he was also concerned about the extra cost and spreading sales across so many models. He will be getting his before everyone else, and my guess is it will have 4GB.

This is getting weird: At 0:05 German time I looked at the preorder page and I'm sure the vibration motor was listed as a optional feature. I even remember wondering about it as I, too, thought it was in the normal version and wrote this perplexed to a friend on WhatApp, where I can still find it. Too bad I didn't make a screenshot or something.
Am I going crazy or was the page changed? You're definitly right, it's listed as a standard feature that also is in the non LTE version.

Sorry for spreading misinformation!

My order seems to have gone through fine (€400 + €200 voucher), but the store told me it looked like there was a problem with what I ordered. I'm assuming its all ok...

I had that too, paid with creditcard.

Aside from whether 2GB or 4GB is the better choice in isolation, there are disadvantages to having a minority hardware configuration. I assumed I would be in the majority when I ordered it, and would definitely want to switch if it stays like this.

I think most people choose 4GB because the price difference isnt so big.
Most people are like, why the heck not, maybe itl turn out to have an advantage.

If the price difference would have been an 100 euros, less people would have jumped the 4GB edition.

I would recommend waiting until Monday evening to see if things stay like this. The first handful of people are probably mostly those that want the "best" one. Once normal people start to order the 2GB numbers might go up.

Just ordered mine a Standard Edition 4GB.
Had a problem with a first card (Maestro) but next i tryed with the other one (MasterCard) and all went fine.

I guess I won't be pre-ordering then.
It's almost sure that there will be a black or dark grey version since most people want that.

It's not surprising that people who want the best will go for 4gb version since people tend to think that more is better. It's like if there were a 1080p version, the majority would buy 1080p if they can afford it while it's a very stupid choice IMO.
I'm also wondering if they are aware that 4gb version cost 30€ more because it's written nowhere on the preorder page, there is a price difference between mobile and standard version on the preorder page but not between 4gb RAM and 2gb RAM.
