Release PPSSPP, Emulator for PSP

Dissidia 012 is now good again.

Everything is about 10 FPS faster than the (good) old build.

So it's full speed for the fast maps and about 33 FPS for the slow ones.

I use Frameskip:3

Frameskip:4 is black screen

Frameskip: 5 works but not nice to play any more (works fine but it's to much skipped for me)

Using Frameskip:5 instead of 3 it's about 5 FPS faster for the slow maps.

No need to use more than 3 for the fast maps.

This is a really awesome update.
Some games prefer Odd FrameSkipping, Even frameskip give you black screen, but not all games.

Hmmm if this works for the rebirth unit too, some games will maybe playable now on the rebirth pandoras. This would be awesome :) .

About Rebirth speed, I haven't tested yet (may be tonight), but I think Lumines at least should play well.

I Updated yesterday night the PPSSPP over PNDStore and a shortly Test say what Askarus say.
With Frameskip 3 and no Sound plays Dissidia012 Fairly good :)
Other Games that i tested where in the short Test visible faster than older Versions.
Mana Khemia has still this Text colour Problem but its wonderfull playable now :)
I wish i have more time ;)

ami  doing something wrong with this emu..i tried two japanese games, and both times the emu just crash and goes back to the desktop..tried same two games with same emu on windows and an android table, and they run flawlessly there.any help?

Can you name the games? Do you use the recent ppspp version? What kind of pandora do you have? Did you overclock?

i tried gundam overworld and a kamen raider fighting game.they both run great on pc and and the android tablet.i have a first batch pandora overclocked at 800,and the latest pnd of the emu

tried disabling fastmem..same issue.just tried lego star wars clone wars and puzzle bobble...same issue...

ok i got it,i created a swapfile of 32 mb(out of my mind, because i can't find any info on which should be the right amount).i choose"activate swap file",browse for the file, and select it.OF COURSE i have an error that says "failed to activate swapfile "mnt/utmp/swaptools*swapfile.swp"....

sorted:changed folder and now its activated.i ran psp emu again..and again same issue, crashes back to desktop

edit 2:i changed the fileswap size to 700 something,..and now finally the game runs..although i wasn't expecting blazing speed,i was wondering which options i need to disable to make it run a little faster

I dont think 32mb would help,, try like 256mb.

Its basically using your SD card to extend the 256 ram you have available, so you now have ~956mb ram available but only 256 is fast ram the rest is sd card speed so slower. not sure if it will have adverse performance issues I dont think it will its just using up 700mb of your SD card's space

You can't have too much swap.

I always have a 1Gig swap on my SD.

It simply is not usable for other stuff any more.

As I have 2x128GB SD-cards I don't care about that 1GB.

hmm i can't quite understand...so you're saying that you can't have never enough swap,as is "more is better"?i have a 30 gb sd card so i can also up the limit to 1 gb,if there's any kind of benefit

There is no benifit after a certain amount of swap space. A swap file is "virtual ram". If there is too much data, put some of it to disc, to avoid an application crash. Writing stuff to disc takes some time and should be avoided, since it make the system slower. But sometimes it can't be avoided, so it is better to have a sometimes slower system (just when no RAM is left), then a crashing application. The place to write RAM to disc is the swap file. If it is big enough to write down all the data, which doesn't fit into RAM, it is ok. So 256 OR maybe 512 is fine. I don't you need more. You won't gain anything from making it bigger. Just avoid crashes for very big applications.

I just say a big swap file doesn't hurt.

You don't need it.

As rohezal said about 500 MB is enough.
