Release PPSSPP, Emulator for PSP

New version on the repo, to stay current.

I must say I have mixed feeling about this version, that's why I haven't update for some time.

The sound is not good in Trail Blazer. Other games are fine.

Screen in blinking badly also for me on Lumine with FrameSkipping ON. But I can play with Frameskip OFF on Gigahertz Pandora. First level (with the backgound full of transparency) is 40fps (playble), level 2 (much less transparency) if fullspeed without frameskip.

Puzzle Bubble is FullSpeed when there almost no bubble on screen, but fall Halfspeed when more then, hum, let's say 15 bubles are on screen.

Tales of Eternia looks fast and good (with Alpha Hack).

Ridge Racer 2 is not fullspeed, but somewhat playable on a Gigahertz Pandora.

Try out, but may be keep an old version somewhere, might be handy...

Build 16

----------

  • In sync with git version. Now version 0.7.5
  • Keep the Alpha hack in place.

I have 0.7.5-18 now and I am very satisfied and thank you for this. ;)

Thanks PtitSeb for this emulator!

Some analysis of the games that I have (frameskip alway on) :

Valkyria Chronicle 2 : Launches fine, crashes after new game selection.
Patapon : Launches fine, stuck at menu screen (no sound)
Sid Meier's Pirate : Full Speed, no sound
Half Minute Hero : Full Speed, no sound

Tales of Eternia : Full Speed most of the time, sound and I can now pass the world map.

I shall give it the ol' Lumines test tonight. Or tomorrow. Stupid work.

I've just tested Obscure Aftermath again... I've done this quick video that can you compare with my previous one, check out the FPS and how it has improved! I'm pretty excited with the future updates!

(Sorry for the bad quality and choppy gameplay... I played with my left hand and recorded on my nexus with my right hand! + The screen freeze at 0:54 happens on the PC version as well)

Anntao may I ask if you filmed this with a GHZ, Classic or Rebirth Pandora?

Is Obscure :The Aftermath the Euro or US version?
The EU version I believe... Not sure though. You've seen performance differences between regional versions?
Yes I have and I have been using this emulator since day 1.

It seems to me the EURO versions play better.

I had no idea, thanks for the info. You've tested other games that run well?
 You are welcome.

Yes for example , Trailblazer, Tales of Eternia, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Lumines.

They all run well. Not perfect.

I am not trying to stir any controversy here. Somewhere along the threads I thought it was mentioned that Euro games were preferable so I went that route.

I have 9 playable PSP games and they all are either Euro or Jap.

Obscure Aftermath game will be  EU.

Very happy with the outcome of Obscure Aftermath . Nubs control real nice to walk and d-pad is spot on to look around. Graphics look real nice with this game. I do like the lighting effects through the windows  B)

I have some sound when opening and closing doors.

Very pleased overall and very playable thus far.

Thanks for this one Mr. ptitSeb  :D

I tested a bit yesterday evening too:
Mana Khemia have a Speedup for more playable and i found out when i overclock to max can i use Frameskip and buffered rendering with both on and play very very fine, but at 1.1 ghz and normal sysspeed have i the buffered Rendering hangs again.
Seem to much processor gaining Games bringst the buffered rendering to errors when i use frameskip with that too.

Have you tried once to Compile with timidy installed?
Maybe we have then Backround Music in Games :)

Gta Vice City is still unplayable but
Tales of Eternia work now very fine, yehaaah thx.

Mario Homebrew have no Sound Errors more but i have in
Trailblazer now little Sound Error.
A a tune while playing.
This evening will i try more.

Maybe you find a way for Backround Music in Games ;)

And sorry for that bad english ;)

Hi, I finally got around to trying the emu, but any game I load gives me a black screen & the emu shuts down. Am I missing something ?

I tried Every Extend Extra, Valkyrie Profile Lenneth & Puzzle Quest.

A nyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

PPSSPP doesn't use midi. So timidity (or fluidsynth) will be of no use. Sound needs a lot of work. There have been some done, and the buzing sound in Trail Blazer is an unfortunate consequence (I will look and see if it's not some previous experiment of mine that do that).

I tried Tron Evolution also, it's ok on PC, but extremly slow on the Pandora.

I also Tried Metal Slug, but t stay on "Loading Screen" indefinitly.
