GamesCom Video and Remaining Tasks

Reading the A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!) news thread, I believe the box is planned to be made with unbleached environment friendly paper.
So I guess we talk about a monochromatic fancierisation here.
Like on an Amazon packaging but more elaborated ...
I thought he was going to use boxes like in the video with full color printing. I don't have time to read through the whole thread again right now. If it is unbleached and rather plain my idea might be fine.

What I was thinking is the logo, full name (DragonBox Pyra), and maybe a picture of the Pyra (how would all of you feel about line drawings?) for the top, with the logo and name on the front and back. I recommend medium/dark red ink, but black may be cheaper. Maybe throw in a "Made in Germany" or other little things. The checkboxes could be on the right side, and either nothing or a small blurb on the left. Anything more than that would require someone better than me, which would already be needed for the line drawing.

Just use blain Cardboard Boxes, and write "PYRA" whit a big fat black Edding Pen on it,
You could also use Labels from a Dymno Printer to put some Infos on the Box, like Specs, aktuall Modell Typ etc (4G, or WIFI)..

I'd agree with you if this wasn't an international product that needs to be shipped to supporters world-wide. I still have my small cardboard box that housed my Pandora. Why not use that same shape? It was perfect.

Is it just me who feels a little old because they remember when some of those arcade cabinets first came out...

Me too.

I owned a lot of the classic computers shown too so feel doubly old.

Speaking of old, I can't locate the box thing that connects to the place on an old TV where the antenna was hooked up with screws. Since I don't think I ever knew what those were called I am having difficulty finding somewhere to buy a new one. I found some things online that are cylindrical and have a coax connector on one end with the little wire and things to stick under the screw coming out of the other. I can't even think of a way to describe what I am looking for to a store clerk and not have them point to cables. I guess I could show them a picture.

Same here. I keep it protected in the larger box ED shipped it to me in.

What about the 4GB RAM timings ? There was someone who had to get a prototype to be able to contribute them ? Does this person have the prototype yet ?

I believe the issue was that 4GB ram sticks (2x2GB dual channel) have not been tested (but should in theory work fine), whereas 2GB with just one of these ram sticks would run at half the bandwidth. but there are few enough 2GB orders that he might be able to use the old solution (4x512MB sticks).

there are four slots, i believe, though, so ED could offer a super premium 8GB pyra ;). (never been talked about.)

i may be misremembering things, though, so please correct me @EvilDragon and/or others.

do you mean a Balun ? there were two types for TV , one to take the 300 ohm TV ribbon cable and convert to 75 ohm , or the one you described that converted 75 ohm cable to 300 ohm ribbon for older tv's.

I guess so. That is what some of the cylindrical thingies were called in the descriptions, and it sounded like I had found one that went in the right direction. I prefer to talk to someone and buy it locally than order one. Actually, I would rather just find my old one.

I... somehow like this idea. It would make it look handmade, show that it's not about the box, but what's inside (a pocketable laptop) is what counts. And with a device that's relatively ugly, but designed utilitarianly, this would make sense. Kinda.

I'd love a simple white (or brown uncolored) cardboard box written on by hand.
It would be exactly the opposite to all the locked down stuff made by slave labour in Asia with shiny and thoroughly designed expensive boxes.

It would be eco friendly, humble, personal and unique.
