Firmware Is Out


It's amazing how the long awaited version 1.4 of the firmware, with the kernel source, is released, with huge amounts of discussion (good, bad and ugly) and the latest news on the front page of gp32x.de is from last Thursday about madelman's games and FFplay.

I just updated from 1.1 to 1.4. The (idle) power usage dropped from 330mA to 280mA (10 mA resolution, using 3.0V).
 
My boot time has always been slow (around 40 secs). I might update to 1.4 and use the old gp2xmenu file just so I can get the battery led. But I'm not to thrilled that they did something like screw the sound. That type of crap is gonna be problematic in the future when programmers are no longer updating their code.
