The Rise of Pyra - A story about the past 6 months

Yes, we agree, we would be very sad. Please keep paying us good sir.
Nah, never mind. I've been in touch with a lady who wants to preserve her anonimity, so we'll just call her Ms. P and she has a good offer for us, all of Null's minions can change boss and get a raise.

Please keep paying us good sir.

On my way.

Naaa, I won't close them down. I always try to keep all ressources out there alive, even if I don't have the time to participate everywhere :)
Great to hear that the project lives. Pleaser consider copy pasting your response in the 'So where are we with the Pyra--really?' thread as a Pyra News post for general visibilty.

In 2009 while participating in 10 day compo I have developed the Adamant Armor Affection. A small game about Pandora featuring EvilDragon as a final boss.

Since I am in a research planning to remake Adamant Armor Afferction for modern audiences I was wondering - what cool and fun events happened in (Open)(Pandora)(Pyra) that should be refered/recreated in the remake.

Wow the forums are still open, nice
Did I miss something?
Is Pyra dead?

The forum here is not really frequently posting new content or posts.
It seems like, that the interest ist gone.

I wouldn't say, that I haven't seen it coming.
When I take a look, how everything (with GP32) starts and now is going, we have currently so much more devices on the market which are much cheaper than the Pyra/Pandora.

When the Pyra was released there were already many cheap handhelds. I have a Retroid Flip2 (it's not the cheapest, cheaper compared to Pyra) but it lacks the keyboard. Most, if not all, lack the keyboard. And it really does make a difference in what you use it for.
Especially for using Linux stuff.
The Pyra is faster and more modern compared to the Open-Pandora. It still lacks the good momentum of community support the Pandora had.
So the reason that it's expensive and it's supported by a large community has been there from the start. And the price is becoming relatively lower due to inflation :p

it's not a front or something.
Take a look in this forum. Discussions, Posts etc. are really rare compared to the beginning.
Neither OpenPandora nor Pyra are fast handhelds anymore. 595€+ is not cheap for that hardware.

when over 90% of the posts are in " everything else" and " off topic" and ED doesnt post anything it is hard to think it is not dead. i hope for those still waiting that there will be a product for them.
Talk of a new SOC didnt even garner much interest and just petered out. personally i stopped checking this forum daily to once a fortnight and still there are barely 5 posts to read...

While I'm not holding my breath, I do hope to get one eventually still, although the deafening silence we've had, especially in the last year or so is somewhat perturbing to say the least.

Certainly partly may be due to the plethora of recent, cheap retro hand-held devices which in my opinion has saturated the market, partly due to @EvilDragon 's (update please ED, nudge nudge, wink wink) lack of active involvement in the forum, and most sadly for me the shift of users from the forum here to other media like Discord.

At the very least, I'd like to see more users active here, even if it's chatting about the latest Ambernic, Hackberry, grumbing about not having a Pyra, etc... (I don't mind the off-topic stuff here, but it's not exactly community-rousing).

While other media are convenient (Discord, Mastodon, and other more unseemly variants), I feel they lack the same community warmth - Discord to me is well titled, as it seems pretty much a cacophany of bots, random comments, rather than well organised threads and topics of the forums here - it's pretty shit if you want to find any relevant updates... so, yes, I miss the community here - but perhaps it's a sign of the times and the first death-rattles of the forum, but I really hope not. A future of streams of random consciousness, bots, ads and AI BS in modern "social media" is not how I want to spend my time, now or never.
