The tale of the cases


Wasn't a French company supposed to concoct a plastic specific to the Pyra's molds with just the right viscosity, etc.? Will this new company's materials work fine with the molds?

It wasn't a specific material for the moulds, it was a specific material made for mobile devices where the plastic needs to have an even flow even in thin and small areas.

Nothing special.

Being the fountain of eternal optimism that I am, I cannot help but worry that the new company will just be more of the same...

Well, they already produced over 6000 cases for me.
Sure, plastic was a different one and shrinking marks not that important, but I know they produce.
Shrinking marks also depend on the mould and design a bit, so let's hope they are proper, but the transparent cases have absolutely no shrinking marks.

I don't think i would actually mind shrinking marks on a case that much - as long as it still fits the components perfectly, and hasn't shank to the size of a prune; it would just add to the character and uniqueness.
 
I made a internship some years ago in a mould injection facility and they used some Kranes to move the moulds as they where quite heavy
They made some parts for home electricity like this little boxes where you can put cables in and make connections between cables which where than save for being wett or something
There where about the same size as the Pandora
But maybe that was because they made some more cases at once..

So a mould is nothing you could easily put in your pocket..

It’s also not that easy to pick they up if they still in the mould injection machine

But I hope the old faktory works whit your contact and everything works out...

As I now have a GPD Win in Black, I think I should have also the Pyra in black so it can mistake whit the Gpd,
This way I ditnt need to explain why I have a new device again
 
Found a solution to solve the RAM problem.
Just solder this on the bottom of the pyra and everyone is happy:

Yeah. The mold company were given many chances so it sounds fair to move to the new company.

My only question is: the new company have produced cartridge shells, but can they produce something as complex as the Pyra case?
 
Found a solution to solve the RAM problem.
Just solder this on the bottom of the pyra and everyone is happy:

They need to add a separate power circuit strictly for powering the ram! This thing could be done soon and the cases would be the last problem! The ram power circuit should be wired in parallel to the other power circuit that supplies power to the rest of the pc. The only drawback is that the battery lifetime would be reduced by an hour or 2 depending on the amount of heavy tasks performed.

I know that i have repeated this advice several times but i want to make sure that it is heard - this is the quickest fix to the problem without tampering with the hardware too much and it beats lollygagging by messing around with capacitors as the engineering guy stated, he needs to think outside of the box more often as doing so will strengthen his reputation as a hardware designer in the long run - if anything, the capacitors farad values are cutting the voltage level down if it is wired in series and before the ram - if the capacitors are wired in a parallel configuration to the ram and power supply direction, then the capacitors would be useful as a distortion trimming component. If the ram isn't getting enough voltage then neither will the capacitor. The circuit's internal resistance is probably too high.

The developers could exchange the power board for one that allows either a little extra amperage or an extra half-volt to pass in order to overcompensate for the voltage drop at the certain point in the circuit (it is probably caused by a grossly oversized resistor) without burning other components out. That is 2 ways to solve the ram problem.

Must be an old picture. Those must be 4GB sticks - thus 32 sticks. Modern server RAM is commonly in 16GB or even 32GB per stick meaning that 128GB can now look like just the first 4 pieces of that.
 
Screw that, give them a block of wood and a carving tool and they can carve their own cases out of wood :D
Some day when the case CAD files are published, someone needs to CNC machine a case out of wood. I would like mine made from a solid block of cherry wood please. Yeah, it would be more fragile than plastic, but cool factor 11 and all.
 
This is what a desktop workstation motherboard that will handle up to 3TB of RAM looks like:

Ram manufacturers would have to make ram that is compatible for that pc, they would need to make the ram 128gb each and you would need to buy and fill all 24 slots each with 128gb sticks of ram in order for you to reach maximum capacity. Thats insane dude!
