What's The First Film You Will Watch On The Pandora

Lord of The Rings Extended Trilogy all on one battery charge.

That's exactly what I was going to say =X

Still, I have to convert it to 800x480... Can anyone suggest a good app to do this? Perhaps the good old Super?

*shakes hands frantically* No converting! The Pandora video players can do full screen, if you convert to 800x480 you'll be reducing quality in the first place, as well as either chopping off the sides or destroying the aspect ratio. It just doesn't need to be done.

I'll be down-converting from 1080p. I prefer exact pixels. Also, people know how to convert without warping the aspect ratio.

By forcing the Pandora to render a video that have a resolution higher than its screen, you will be wasting your Pandora's processing power and battery. I'd rather keep it on perfect fit, since is enough for the screen and can save enough battery to perhaps watch it all with only one charge of the battery.

You'll go blind. (should save this quote for later in the thread when Wizard Stan posts).
Good choice.

Haha, I know it'll be my ultimate battery test. If it fails, I'll try watching 26 episodes of Samurai Champloo in two charges.
Samurai Champloo is fantastic! good call!

i'll probably watch the original animated Transformers movie. even though the encode i have barely does it justice, i just neeed to watch transformers on there.

I ve got the fi,s already, just wont ever have anything to watch them on.

Probably Harry Potter 7, because it will be out on DVD by then.

In all seriousness though, probably Pulp Fiction.

That's after the porn of course :p

Probably also have a go at Stalker. Haven't yet watched it a the way through, as it's quite a long movie, but long train journeys are a fairly common occurrence for me.

The Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy but certainly not on one charge. There are other things I plan to do with my new friend. :p

Ok, I'll be the first to be honest and say that it will be an adult film. The only one I think popular culture knows by name would be Debbie Does Dallas... which of course won't be the one. Possibly something more soft core like Bachelor Party.

Kidding... or am I? Yes I am, but am I sure? Who knows, certainly not me.

In honesty, it should be something classic, something reverend to do justice of the geekyness and retro nature of the Pandora.

Say, something like "Real Genius", "Wierd Science", "War Games", "My Science Project", "The Manhattan Project", "The Philadelphia Experiment", ...and of course "Airplane". Not that Airplane is related, but damn, it is classic.

Edit: Oops, forgot "Short Circuit"... Pandora 5 is alive!

Edit 2: Actually, I've been nostalgic lately... Just watched "American Ninja", "Black Hole", "Groundhog Day"... if you guys don't pick something old and kitchy, I have no clue about you.

Ooooh, ohh! Almost Forgot "The Ice Pirates"! Ohe yes, I think "The Ice Pirates" will be first!

Edit 3: Also don't for get "The Dark Crystal", or "Conan", possibly "Krull", or "The Last StarFighter"... and of course "Enemy Mind". Back to soft core porn, there is of course "Flesh Gordon". Also, does anyone else remember "Red Sonja"? Don't forget the original "Star Wars" trilogy, or maybe "Thumb Wars" if you prefer. Maybe the "Star Trek" movies... Spock in San Francisco on your Pandora.

(Clearly my madness has progressed even further than I thought).

Handbrake. Don't use the latest version, since it dropped Xvid support. Use the previous version, xvid avi, 75% CRF, detelecine & decomb (if applicable), stereo mp3. If you only plan on watching on the Pandora display, you can probably lower the horizontal rez to 688 or 640. At the Pandora's display size, you're unlikely to notice the difference.

Note that I suggest Xvid/MP3 not because the Pandora can't handle h.264, but simply because Xvid is easier to decode and will lead to longer battery life.

I recently watched several of those. Also Pirates of Silicon Valley.

I have a bash script that I use to convert video with mencoder for my Cowon A-2. It's really ugly, but it gets the job done. I'll probably do something similar specifically for my Pandora.
