The Caring Corner :)

I was having trouble telling green from black on my TV this morning, but an online color blindness test just said my vision is normal, so I just think it has something to do with the brightness being turned down on my TV.

An update on my sister: She’s still doing fine, is waiting for an MRI currently, says that the pathology report on the tumor they removed won’t be in until at least Thursday.

I accidentally turned off my tablet while it was charging, and the charger got really hot. I think I may have damaged the charger. Too soon to say. Chargers aren’t that hard to replace though, right?

irc, they did not just go ahead and used it, but first went to him for some personal QnA, but it didn't come up what they wanted to do with it - or something like that.
Makes sense, Intel just needed a bit of info, why make Tanenbaum any wiser than he was? Seems like they just asked for whatever information they needed and after they got that information they never contacted Tanenbaum again. Of course, they did not need to, because they could see what Tanenbaum was up to by using Minix to spy on him.

How does turning off a tablet break your charger?
Still, if the charger got really hot and doesn't work anymore it probably broke.

Oh, don’t worry, the charger still works. It’s an Apple charger, that may be why it behaves weirdly if you turn off what you’re charging. Note that if what you plug in is off, it will automatically turn on, but there’s nothing preventing you from turning it back off while plugged in.

But why would that be an issue?
Apple devices charge faster when off, at least they did in the past. They just also turn on when plugged-in.

Haven’t been able to drink much coffee today, and it’s screwing with my other activities. I think I’m at the part of the cycle where I have to quit for a while. Fortunately I think caffeine is one of the easiest drugs to reset.

Got 30 ounces of coffee in me now, but I’m not sure what to do with it. I haven’t felt like touching my PS5 today for some reason.

I think I’m still worried about something that happened earlier. I had to jaywalk across a street twice due to some construction work that was obstructing the sidewalk between me and the intersection. Well, the second time, a car came close to me. I don’t know how close, because I didn’t stop to look. I was just running across the street as fast as possible. A guy behind me was yelling at me to keep running until I made it to the other side, so I think it must have been close. It was a five lane road, for reference; it had two lanes on each side and a turn lane in the middle. I’ve decided that I’m going to avoid that area until they complete construction.

While it looks cool, Jaywalking isn't the fasted method of crossing a street.

My life is weird. The ones who are in control are the ones who are always yelling. They have no reason to be upset. I should be the one yelling.
I assume that people yelling at you want quick results and are lacking communication skills to motivate you to do stuff without yelling.
It can also be frustration, as you might not do what they want. And it can just be to show authority, makes them feel good.
Yelling back is probably not a good idea, as assessing your authority won't fly. Probably best to just stay calm and ask: "Why are you yelling?" and reflect their behavior back to them.

That is so absolutely correct, and makes sense and is so sensible, that I'm going to go for a change...
Either that or they are simply assholes, frustrated with their own lifes, who prefer to vent by yelling at someone who hasn't enough control of his life to be a problem for them.
Whatever the case, the point is it doesn't make sense to worry about someone who just yells. If someone tells you in an articulate, thoughtful, empathic way something that you may end up considering true and it hurts you, ok, you have a point feeling bad.
But if an asshole yells at you, it makes no sense to worry. I wouldn't even reply, just ignore them. The problem is theirs.

My sister is handling the wait for the pathology report on her brain tumor better than I am. I’m just really bad at waiting for things to happen though. She thinks it’ll probably be in on Monday.

This is common though, and I think you have to. If you're ill you think more about the good things in life and have hope you'll get those back if you try. And they have to, you can't stay sick, so people adapt.
Personally I like this, but it's weird though, you get strength from the person that needs it most (according to yourself).

My neighbor just called me stupid. He’s right too, these are classified intellectual and developmental disability apartments. His smart ass should be out on the street.

My sister has an appointment early Wednesday to check her head wound. More importantly, we’re expecting the pathology report to be in sometime today, meaning if it doesn’t come in by five in the evening today, I’m going to assume she’s already dead and has just been faking life for the past ten days.
