The Caring Corner :)

I've had a 'fun' week. I pulled a muscle in my leg and my mobile phone screen ended up cracking. Luckily I had a replacement phone handy and my leg seems to be back to its normal self.

Many people recommend keeping a spare leg nearby for use in emergencies, in the same way car owners keep a spare wheel.
I've chap named Igor who carries mine around for me in a glass jar with a sewing kit in the lid. Awfully obliging fellow, even if he does speak with a slight lisp.

Get well soon.
Thanks, I'm trying. It isn't nearly as bad as what ED and others have, and I feel a bit better today. Maybe yesterday was the worst of it...

Be careful about leg injuries especially in the middle of the woods. I have had quite a few that the results of will cause me problems for the rest of my life unless I get some of those replacements. "Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger" my ass.

I also usually have some water, oil, an air pump, a shovel, jumper cables, a strap cutter/window hammer, etc. I am frequently surprised how few people have jumper cables.

Warmer weather and lighter nights are finally reaching my part of the world ^_^. Hopefully now my body will stop thinking that it's the middle of the night when it's actually early evening. You'd've thought it would've gotten used to the reduced light by now but apparently not. Also my mood should improve (I generally feel more down during winter).

I am deeply troubled by the health of one of my dearest friends. I'm talking about my trusty old IBM X60t. The mechanism in its' stylus compartment has decided to cease its' services. It may finally be time for new (used) one. *cradles the machine and kisses its' soft skin*

dude... in the absurdism corner it would be hilarious... in the bad joke it would be a bad joke and I'd chuckle... but in the caring corner... that just makes me sad...

That's a conversation opener I'd totally go along with.
To be honest... me too. simple topic, yet interesting and who knows where it takes you (topic-wise).

be honest, when was the last time you 'opened' a conversation with a strange girl?

I did! this weekend, during the marathon, I put on a clowns-nose and said: Nobody takes me seriously. They laughed... no conversation...

In my experience all girls are a little strange (them being a subset of 'all people' who are often really quite strange).

"They're all funny, 'cept fer thee 'n me, an' even tha's a bit queer"

(For best results, read with a northern (English) accent)

good luck, EU, on all the elections coming up. (especially NL as they're coming up the soonest!)

For me it would be something more along the lines of I need to write it down (quickly) before it gets washed away by the waves of other things in there. That is only partially true, and doesn't explain my messy writing the rest of the time, even when trying to write neatly (and consistently, which is another problem when I write). I never "mastered" cursive/script, and it is so bad that even I can't read it most of the time, so I don't use it often. A more likely excuse is that I never bothered to spend the time and effort to get better at it, since it seemed wasteful, and I focused on other things instead of a new way to do something I already knew how to do.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I was trying to encourage someone that was embarrassed or ashamed at their performance when trying to apply new skills they learned, and making a mistake (...kinda, they were supposed to pretend to do something with the system they were working with, and they did it for real, mostly the correct way as far as I can tell). What I told them works for most people in many situations: don't be afraid to push the limits and make mistakes. That is how you learn and get better at things. It is nice to learn from other people's mistakes and experience, but that isn't always a luxury we have, and it is often valuable to go off the beaten path and find new things for yourself. This is also how we learned as children.

My advice to everyone reading this is to get out there and do something stupid today, and value what that experience teaches you.
