Release SuperZaxxon - Beta 4 released

Kind of agree - takes up too much space - should be optional.
It is optional. It always has been optional. The default is just thicker. If you don't like it, remove the "Make scrollbars wider" section of the .gtkrc-2.0 file in your home directory.

^ SNES9x4P runs like a charm for me, no overclocking

Darn! Then mine has to be possesed, I just dowloaded it 'cause I was paranoid about my cronic card coruption :p I'll try again.

EDIT: Downloaded again this one http://repo.openpand...es9x4p_ivanovic and not working :(

EDIT 2: Ugh! It had to be me... Nevermind, it was just a corrupted appdata file, hehe :p

I find it very comfortable with the stylus, much quicker than aiming for something a few pixels wide. Horses for courses though. For those who want to change it, open .gtkrc-2.0(located in your home dir) and edit the width. It is currently 25px.

Thanks, Gruso, that's all I wanted to know :D

Played around a bit, I think 20 is a neat size for the scrollbar.

Someone really should code GTK 2.0 Live-Theme-Editor.

Curiously enough after I installed beta 4 I had a number of things fail but none of them actually seem to be related to the firmware change at all. An example is PNDManager. The first time I tried to sync it after the firmware change it crashed. The issue turned out to be a corrupted database file in appdata.

I must say I like having it wider than it was, but it doesn't need to be as wide as it is now by default. I'd recommend a default setting of 15 rather than 20, It's still wide enough to be comfortable, but less likely to be offensive to those who value their screen space. :)

Hopefully, in the Release Version of Super Zaxxon, there isnt this issue whit the USB anymore: I ditnt get my WIFI Dongle to work, even if i enable USB Host, but on a Handheld Gaming Console for Peaple whit a Faible for Retro Games, this has to work easear, on the older cernel, the Dongle works out of the box, its tis http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0047IRBAI/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00 Wifi Dongle..

I got a bit of help on this online last night from Da|Mummy which worked

It looks like your dongle uses the 8188cu chip so you might need to swap that driver in but the instructions he recommended to me were:

reboot

open terminal

sudo modprobe 8192cu

sudo modprobe ehci-hcd

And then it worked. Maybe try swapping in 8192cu for 8188cu. I had some trouble with flicking between usb host enabled and not enabled and I cant remember which I ended up with, but probably disabled. i got a few errors the first time I did it but I expect I was doing something wrong! Make sure the internal WIFI is turned off.

Ok, thanks, this means i have to use the terminal to get wifi work..,

ok, have to make a textfile whit the main terminal commands, because there are a bit divicult to never vergot..

if you don't use terminal a great deal (like me!) you can just use the d-pad to go up and down and scroll through previous commands :)

Tried logging in to youtube using firefox 5.0b3, https page gives an error:

secure connection failed

security library: memory allocation failure

Error code: sec_error_no_memory

Same in Fifo 11, activating a swapfile does not help

Works in Jumanji and Midori

https problem also occurs with the older kernel

(why do ppl even bother with FF on the pandora. runs like molasses)
This is sadly an old and known error/problem with firefox. You have to change the system used for the "secure" part. If you were using plan http, not https, it would directly have worked. This is eg. linked in the 2nd comment on the now ancient firefox 6.0 release. Here is the "fix" (actually just a workaround): http://boards.openpandora.org/index.php?/topic/5014-firefox-60/page__st__80__p__100598#entry100598

^ Ah alright, thanks.

Just tried out my new SCART cable, works like a charm w/sound and all.

All the games needing HW overlay mode to display on the TV won't start when that mode is set.

That's SNES9X4P, PSXreARMed, zQuake, Gravity Force to name but a few

And I found out a few games don't even need that mode, which is great, wish the other apps could do that, too. The ones that work in normal mode are e.g. Angree Burds and LieroX.

Looks like this could be a brother issue of that inofficial flash plugin not working full-screen anymore, as mentioned above.

I seem to have a similar problem to matzesu's, but with my TV-Stick. I already reported it a few days ago for the beta3:

I have the firmware copied to /lib/firmware

I activate USB

Plug the stick in.

None of the programs can find the stick, but it is listed with lsusb!

It's a "Hauppauge! WinTV Nova-T", but I guess that's irrelevant.

With the old kernel it just works.

So I hope it will be possible to make it "just work" when toggling the USB port with the new kernel as well.

I don't know enough Linux-Voodoo to come up with anything usefull myself, but I'll glady post any hidden logs or output if you tell me what you need.

Okay, bit long winded but can you see if the dvb_usb_dib0700 driver comes up when you do dmesg

If so try:

reboot

put in the dongle

in terminal type:

sudo modprobe dvb_usb_dib0700

sudo modprobe ehci-hcd

It might work then. Otherwise if a different driver comes up that reads similar to that, put that in instead of the dvb_usb_dib0700 and see if that works.

Bit of a long shot since I only sort of know what I am doing but I am hoping the theory holds together in a similar way! There definitely seems to be a problem with the usb stuff at the moment

For those with rtl wifi dongle problems, can you try adding

Code:
blacklist rtl8192cu

to /etc/modprobe.conf and reboot? If it works with just enabling USB host then, we can add this to firmware, I don't have that dongle myself and can't test.

Can you post "lsmod" output from the old kernel? Also "dmesg" on both old and new? You can save the output to SD with "dmesg > /media/yoursdcard/log.txt"

Maybe some driver is just not compiled.

my Pandora says, if i want to save the modprobe.conf whit the new text, that it cant open file to write..

Seems like i ditnt have the admin right for this thing..

Notaz, did this and though i still had to sudo modprobe ehci-hcd, the dongle worked right after that without any other prompting

EDIT - Enabled USB host and it just works, so all sorted then! thanks

Nice, now it works, the dongle just run, thangs alot, now i can listen to medievil Internet Radio and use the new cernel whit the power saving mode..

The Mousepad whit Root Rights was the answer ..

EDIT: This Means the WIFI Dongle Runs if i enable the USB Host (Just made a Button for the Panel)

It does look like the new kernel does not load the firmware for the stick(?)

Oh, and I found another small bug: when you close the lid and go into low power-mode without having done so with open lid, it is impossible to wake it up again. This could be connected to the "Don't remove your SD"-message, which is shown the first time only?

Thanks for doing all this by the way. It's easy to come up with bugs and just forget to say "thank you". I really enjoy having a full desktop on my Pandora, and the improvements from the old one are pretty amazing!

Just flashed B4, seems to be running well.

I was looking at the readme for ZRAM and it seems there is a helper script called zram_stats is this included somewhere with the firmware?
