https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/new-release-of-starcraft-in-4k-ultra-high-definition-announced.80109/#post-1409775Can the now free Starcraft 1.18 be packaged to work with this port? Or can the file it says are missing just be copied to the StarCraft directory? Been trying to get this working for a while now.... The nostalgia Thanks for your efforts...
That post seems to be about the HD remake, not the free 1.18 version of the original Starcraft Broodwar.
Yes, but M-HT indeed released desktop version of his ARM recompiles, e.g. Albion. No, Notaz's recompile is targetting ARM Linuxes. It won't run on a conventional desktop system of any type, and even if you do own an ARM desktop running Linux it probably targets bits of the OMAP3 and SGX GPU. You might experience more success running it under QEMU, but I can't really help you in setting that up.
I'd pay good money for a working Linux desktop compilation of Starcraft: Broodwar.Yes, but M-HT indeed released desktop version of his ARM recompiles, e.g. Albion.
(there are still some lfet for recompilation for desktop, code is here: https://github.com/M-HT/SR/tree/master/SR-games )
That's too bad. I tried to run 1.18 with Wine too, but there are some known library problems. The changelog looks really bad.
New OpenGL backend - most likely GL2+, so no way to run on pandora.
New anticheat capabilities - looks like they ported the protection from Overwatch, it doesn't even work on wine on PC Linux: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=35171
it's pretty safe to say all this will never run on pandora.
I've installed the v1.5 installer from Blizzard's site a few days ago via PlayOnLinux but I don't get past the loading screen, any idea what might have went wrong?Good thing I installed from my old CDs last year and upgraded to 1.16, it sounds like there's no clean way to get it to run on Pandora any longer unless you already did it before 1.18 was released
