Slackware for Pandora 14.0

I finally got SL4P to boot. Editing boot.txt in nano caused errors.

Now, my problem - does SL4P have working wifi?

I have no network and when I try activate, nothing shows up.

I'm using the newest build.

Pre-bed screenshots:

1-Video editing on Pandora: Kino (untested yet).

2-New Pandora-centric menu.

3-Java.

I have one last bug to solve (wifi led on after resume if wifi has been used).

I'm also trying again Libre Office and VOIP. Meanwhile i compile some new packages.

Should be all finished, clean and stable soon.

You've done some very nice work with this!

Excellent system. I'll test wifi and KDE when I get home!

I checked last night, and the reason that I can not activate wifi:

I click enable wifi:

Error pops up along the lines of: Can not mount[find?] PND.

This is the same for all options in the menu (Nub Configuration etc).

Should not happen.

Tell me the pnd logs in /tmp plz.

Also, what lsmod reports ?

Ok,

I will get these this afternoon.

Is SL4P running as root?

It could be the way I copied the file system.

I used "sudo tar..."

Could that be a problem?

The battery life seems significantly less than on the Pandora's main OS. For example, when the screen is closed: ~28 hours rather than ~150; during general usage: ~12 hours rather than ~25. I haven't tested more demanding applications such as an emulator, but firefox with wifi on would momentarily bring the estimates down to 5 hours or so with a mostly full charge. I didn't find any info on the Slackware for Pandora wiki pertaining to this, but is it due to the kernel not taking advantage of the same hardware features that the main pandora OS's kernel does? Or might it be due the extra power needed for the increased activity on the SDHC slot?
I disabled almost all extra stuff, and at 87% battery, i'm around 30h doing nothing, screen at low brightness. And 150h screen off.

I don't know if it's ok 'cause i didn't run Zaxxon on SD for monthes.

Fixed the wifi led with a dirty trick.

A new bug, the BT icon in the notification area doesn't always appear at first BT activation :/.

Fixed Notaz SDL issue, thanks to pepone.

Also found that i can disable xscreensaver, as lcd power is managed by X, therefore i freed 1% of the ram (on 256M OP) ^^.

Libre Office is still compiling (almost three days). Longer than my last try. I hope it's the good one.

Locale support:

I have a funny story for you (but not for me):

Today, i lost one day of my life working with the slowest guy on earth.

In 10 hours, the guy changed 3 lamps, and sent one picture to my email address (he was supposed to send me 6).

I spent the first half of the day telling him to speed up, and the other half saying him to send me the 6 pictures.

I was so angry when i came home, i checked my OP Libre Office endless compilation.

I'd already maxed the speed through the command line, but i wanted to be sure that i wasn't losing time, AGAIN.

So i ctrl-z (paused) the process, typed startx to launch the cpu-settings... then the OP froze.

Pandora button + power switch. 3 days lost.

This story is true.

That's bad.

I downloaded the .imz from Ingo's thread.

Will instll it as soon I have time.

I dont know very much over this, but i understandet it so:

When a Compiling breaks(however why)

then the Compiling dont start from the beginning again.

It compile at that Point where its Frozen(shortly before Tests that the Files are ok)

For 3 Lamps the whole Day,what for a Guy

I think i made little Error with the IMZ,i will fix it in 3-4 days(moment not much Time)

The IMZ must work fine, but i have no Swap Partition for other Users included.

On my Rebirth with 512MB need i the Swapfile not,it work all fine here.

The Problem that i saw not the internal Wifi Problem is that i work ever with my Wifi Stick from Railink

My Lid-Close Settings work not with Slackware and i cannot change the Brightness from the Display.

Rest work all fine here ^_^

In the moment i fight with Secret Maryo Chronicles to get it work :)

Many OpenGL Software Compiles Fine on your System,

I Compiled Glu,Glw,Freeglut(newest Version from SVN),newest Libdrm(without intel Files),DirectFB(with experimental Omap Driver ;) )

I search for Games who work and when some very interesting work,i write it here ^_^

Maybe Vegastrike should work on the Pandora with your system, but i must Try :D

Only the Time is my Problem, i am today again at home @ 11.50PM :(

...unless you issue a "make clean", which usually deletes all those already compiled object files.

But I am not an expert either. That's just my experience with projects I compiled so far.

The .imz is not ok anyway, as stated below.

Even with 512M ram, you _really_ should have a SWAP.

Ok, i know why you have these trouble: you're logged as root.

This is pretty bad, it's one of the basic *NIX rules: "don't run as root."

Cool about games, i have no time for this now (especially when working with some friend...).

11.50PM ? Perfect time to go night clubbing.

Yup.

But in this case, i'm using a SlackBuild script, so i have to start all again because i want to be as clean as possible.

I use this one (slightly modified). See it's huge:

Wow..to be root is so a big Problem?

Ok Next login i as Ingo.

The Slackware Image will i fix soon.

I try to make the image little smaller and i hope to fix the size Problem.

A swap will be there too.

Thx for the tipps. :)

If the .imz is bad I'll do it as said in the wiki.

(I definitly won't download 5GB again.
