Release Quake2 Nanogl

Nice! :D

Is it closer to 40fps, or closer to 30fps? Is the driver locked in VSYNC mode, or something?

I would say 40, but to be conservative you could say between 30-40. We been speculating on the vsync from the results of the previous engines. No conclusion has been made yet.

Absolutely stunning, runs as good as I predicted :) If that was 30, then something must be wrong with my eyes because that looked smoother then 30. Nice solid frame rate throughout (except for the odd pause here and there, what was causing that?).

But the graphics were not on the highest settings, were they? :) Looks like default settings, so the texture slider and model geometry were just a notch away from highest settings.

This is great, 3 Quakes to play on launch :D

I would just like to mention, that this runs better then the xbox port of Quake 3! :D
This excites me in a nerdy, platonic way. Do we have better hardware than the XBox or just better developers? I mean, obviously we have better developers, but is the Pandora actually more powerful on a hardware level?

I know this isnt exactly what your question was but I want to get it out there.
I cant take all the credit a lot of what ive done is possible because of the guy who created the nanoGL library (opengl to opengles wrapper). That guy deserves a good deal of the praise.

Damn, that was awesome. God damn it, I want my Pandora !!!!

Did OP even start making the keymat moulds yet? 20-25 days from WHEN?

When will we find out if the CNC cases are approved or not.

For god sakes MORE INFO IS NEEDED!

Yes, but you've stepped up to get this done for us, and I for one am appreciative. I can't wait for some hand-held Quake III action. Oh, man....

Probably.

After they get them put together. Apparently the cases are pretty complex.

+1000

You do realise that people are going to start hassling you to port all the mods now don't you Pickle? ;)

This is precisely why I thought it might be 30. Eyes will smooth just about anything out, assuming the framerate is high enough for the amount of motion going on. But they're also very good at noticing change - like say, in the time between frames. 30fps (solid) looks smoother than 35-45 fps (varying wildly) because the refresh rate of the monitor doesn't change. 45fps effectively skips SOME monitor refreshes and not others, giving a 1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2 pattern, which looks like mini-jolts to our eyes.

But all that aside... I think Youtube is limited to 30fps? :D Probably best not to base conclusions off it.

Would TI (or whoever made the SGX drivers) be able to answer this? The Beagleboard has had some basic 3D stuff on it, like an Ogre3D test - did they ever encounter framerate caps?

Shit me! Something in my head always said not to get my hopes too high about how this will run, but my god. This is insane. And it's not even optimised? Are you using neon? Pickle! What can I say!?
