Hi everyone.
Sorry for the delay. I talked to Unai and he preferred a private beta until he can fix some odd GPU bugs.
Some things to keep in mind with this beta 1.8...
- Hardware scaling is implemented. This is my replacement to Interlacing 1 and Progressive On.
- If you decide to turn off the HW Scaling, remember that Progressive MUST be on when using a interlacing over 0.
- Underclocking is available for use in-game. Use the PUSH-STICK + VOL_DOWN or VOL_UP to use it.
- Underclocking won't help in games that are already squeezing every FPS out of the emu. So I'm assuming many 3D games won't benefit from underclocking.
- Underclocking also isn't quite reliable yet. It can at times cause the emulator to not load save data until the PSX CLOCK is set back to default. A temp solution to this bug is to turn the PSX CLOCK all the way up with PUSH+VOL_UP to it's default clock before the bug occurs, then set it back to what you had it afterwards.
So if you want Beta 1.8, just PM me with the subject "Beta 1.8" and I'll give it to you. This is about as open of a private beta I could make it and still comply with Unai's request. If you don't get your reply right away, be patient, it will come.
Just so everyone is aware I'll say it again, this release is faster by only a handful of FPS. Only if a game isn't intensive and doesn't use up all the cycles, then underclocking help. Otherwise underclocking might slow things down even. If underclocking does work, it usually gives a dramatic speed increase. Try it out, maybe we'll find some new games that work with it.
