PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. My statement was conditional on them not taking money upfront. Exophase's statement of Celery's rules implied (to my mind at least) that they (Celery) may have had a process in place to allow processing of pre-orders without taking upfront payment which PGS may (or may not) have been using.

Ops... yep, I get it now.

Celery apparently supports both, this is from their features page:

"Choose between charging now or later. And you can even toggle this on the fly."

It doesn't even say whether it'll charge you or not before you attempt to pay so you don't have any idea what you're getting into.. But I think they've made it clear that they're taking money upfront. Which is the biggest indicator yet that they're not being honest about investors. If they truly only needed to secure interest and didn't need the money now they'd use the charge later method, there's no reason whatsoever not to.

4. Poor Comm-uni-cat-ion.
When it comes to crowdfunding, walking the walk and actually fulfilling orders is the most important thing. However, talking the talk can be a clear indication of just how the walk will go. Some communication red flags are: multiple grammatical errors in project description, FAQs, or backer communications; inconsistencies in team and company information (such as location); lack of disclosure with backers; and poor response rates.

5. Too Good to be True.
It’s a bird that does the dishes, it’s a plane that parks itself in your single-car garage, it’s a super-scam! Really innovative, ambitious projects and ideas are undeniably exciting, but when you’re backing with your dollars, it’s important that they can become a reality in the timeline you’re singing on for.

Celery itself must be a scam!

Thank goodness that this insane idea was "cancelled" by Kickstarter. I say "cancelled" because the person(s) behind this sham of a project was given an ultimatum by Kickstarter (possibly among others). They HAD TO remove their pledge drive. All that's left is to see how ugly it ends up for the few believers that still want a device to exist beyond all reality and common sense. This got so big that Russian media called it a national insult. The paid actors probably won't get any cash now. Oh well. I'm more proud than ever to own a Pandora, to be a backer of the Pyra and to trust and converse with reputable people that seek to build REAL products.

May we all seek the truth.

They are still using the Kickstarter comments to advertise this vapourware and spread more bullshit, is this even allowed?
I thought Kickstarter doesn't want to be free advertising.

There will be a massive update of the website within a few days, please give us a little time.
Also please note that when someone makes a pre-order, he/she may cancel it and get money back within half a year (PayPal).

@Alec Arzh
Glad to know. But do you even know, that you are not using Paypal?

There is direct payment through card, no Paypal option.

Lets say it is 8/2016. That is 8 months till 3/2017, so how that Paypal protecion would help anyway?

This is really awful. Now that the KS is over they've transitioned to a much more blatant scam and there's no way to warn their former backers or anyone who follows them through social media. I just hope that people are smart enough to realize that they should not be giving them their money.

There is a remarkable lack of repeating the questions about real team in the comments since their "big update".
Atm they don't even need to dodge those questions there, because they have made a sudden stop.

Now that they've realized the system they're using doesn't support PayPal they're promising to add support for it. They must not understand that PayPal explicitly bans advance payments for non-existing goods. For obvious reason - of course they're not going to stand by a six-month refund policy for such a thing.

Is anyone here still listed as a backer with the cancelled KS? It would be really good if someone could make it very clear that collecting money upfront on a service that allows delayed payment is in blatant contradiction to their claims that they only need commitment and not capital to trigger investment. And that it casts serious doubt on their investor story.

I made a comment along the lines of what Exophase posted. Not as eloquent but hopefully covered some of his points. At this point there's not much you can do to protect anyone. If they don't go to the KS comments page or any of the various message boards they will have to use their head or they are SOL.

I read that the /r/kickstarterscams redditors were trying to get Celery to shutdown PGS, but even if that happens they'll just keep moving around like a cockroach.

I'm so bored of this and the GPD Win. I am really looking forward to the next Pyra vid.

While I myself am pretty excited with the Win. I am really excited for more Pyra content. ED promised some more media at Gamescon and hopefully some reaction from some forum members that visit his booth too!

Well our "mission" to prevent KS backers (especially those for whom it was their first KS project) from being scammed and disgusted is done now. What happens outside KS is not any longer my concern. I wish KS had cancelled it earlier so we could trust KS yet.

Still a backer as well (that $1 was well spent haha). They've updated with new postings as recent as an hour ago, Alec is still up to his usual dodgery and nonsense BS claims. I think most people have gotten the message by now that these asshats are in the scamming industry. Still amazed though that KS continues to do nothing about the cancelled project/page.

Thanks, your comments and others do a good job addressing the stuff I was talking about.

As I expected, they're simply doubling down on their excuse of wanting to preserve the KS pricing scheme while sidestepping the whole issue. There is nothing about that desire that dictates immediate charging.

Out of curiosity, was your concern in the "mission" about helping the people that got taken in by the scammers? Or helping to save Kickstarter's reputation?
