PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

That... but... wut the wut? This makes even less sense than any previous assertion they've made.
The only difference is that by taking "pre-orders" directly there's not even the thin film of legal protection from kickstarter: he literally can just take the money and run.
To be fair, EvilDragon, by also taking direct pre-orders, is in the same boat, but he's proven himself to be an outstanding captain who has navigated rocky shores before. These guys, you point out the giant iceberg and they're just "that's still several km away, we'll deal with it when we get there"."We have a major investor backing us so even if we hit that iceberg we won't sink".

edit: added better analogy.
Titanic...

This is the weirdest thing i've seen.

This guy backed the Smach Z on KS. And when the shit hit the fan he made this comment in the Smach Z KS comments section:

Matt <I wont show his surname> on June 8
PGS kickstarter coming real soon apparently, let's hope this one actually has something to show unlike the smach z jokers.

.....

Now the PGS kickstarter has hit the fan, I look at the PGS KS comments , and what do I see - why this:

Matt <I wont show his surname> 2 minutes ago
Oh dear.... Can't say I'm surprised...jokers

Many people would ask: what about achieved stretch goals? All stretch goals, including those which are not achieved yet (except water proof), will be implemented in series devices. Moreover, the Hardcore version will include such features as vibro-modules, NFC, IRDA and FM-radio.

Hmm, so the PGS is going to include an overclocked AMD chip then?

Also, IrDA? That's a blast from the past for sure. I want a 5.25in floppy drive in mine, please.

You know, the PGS KS video has many similarities to the Ouya's KS video. I don't think they had a prototype either BTW - the KS rules were different then though.

I should do a video like that as well.
Starring me, Nikolaus and me... :D

Additionally, I've added in clear words on the product preorder page that this is not 100% sure and you should expect to lose that prepayment in case something goes wrong.
Not that I PLAN to not deliver, and as we've already ordered parts for mass production and squished almost every issue we found, the risk hopefully shouldn't be too high, but it could still fail.

I doubt they'll mention that on their preorder page :)

Here is an interesting hypothesis:

Here's my guess: Some or all of the first $100k was their own money via fake backers and funding was dropping to the point that the profits after Kickstarter takes their cut wouldn't be worth it.

That's what YOU say... ;) :D :p Just kidding - Seriously, just kidding.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next - that ride could be even more eventful/scary (delete as applicabe) for their new backers. Good luck to all of them...

Look at Ouya's KS video , the similarities with PGS's include:

1) Some 3rd party reference board seeming as if it's the prototype. Check

2) Guy in a workshop sanding a model of the Ouya as like with the PGS. Check

3) Design drawings of the Ouya shown a lot including a stack pinned on a board - as also happened with PGS's video. Check

4) Guy looking over some supposed workers as they sit at their computers. Check

5) Shots of a Japanese/asian designer. Check

6) Scene with the core team members sitting in a meeting room discussing the design. Check
It's surprising how much effort and professional manpower can went into such an useless and crappy piece of hardware at the end. I mean, these people seems to be talented and skilled, imagine what they could do when inventing an acutlay useful product.
ED has useful products for example but sadly not enough manpower to develop it in reasonable time, the world is unfair.

We are leaving but we don't say Goodbye

[no engineers]
[no proof of investors]

I am completely shocked!, this was not the update I was expecting today.

Did KS put some heat on them and they cancelled to save face?

Selling on their own storefront makes it easier to take money and not deal with skepticism, and there is less opportunity for purchasers to get any contradictory information as they control the message and forums.

Hope to see the PGS in stores some day but wont hold my breath. Hope too many people aren't robbed blind by this shift.

The PGS crew are such a laughing stock at this point. Or maybe it's just Nadir. They seemed to be doing the right thing cancelling the KS, if for the wrong reasons, but they were actually just moving to (what they must have believed was) another funding site where they'd have even less accountability.

Then their page on Gumroad, which they still link to on their site and everything, becomes a 404. Presumably because they got punted due to not having an actual product ready to ship and not having a credible date they can hold to for a pre-order release. It's just embarrassing and once again they look even less competent than they did the day before.

I don't think the new site allows charging until you're ready to ship. So maybe they really are just using it to ensure sales will be there later.

I still wouldn't trust it. Who knows if they'll really ship (or ship the promised thing) after saying they are.

These amazing new and added features are only possible thanks to the incredible and most exemplary powerful cancer-curing expertise and revelatory work of senior designer Mr. Mursalov. He came back to us after 40 days and nights being locked in a container, and today returned to show us, deep in his worship on our hands and knees, his latest findings. His Vuvuzela-like voice boomed before us: "I have added....a third screen to the right side edge of our PGS! Now people can play Snakes while they're playing Crysis 3 while they're playing E-ink Soduko while they're getting a massage from our patented vibro module while flipping a few channels with the IrDA blaster. Initiate the preorders! Warm up trycelery!"

No PayPal? Yikes.
You can buy store vouchers with paypal.

I don't think so. For the believers, if there are any that werent recruited, they ended it after their claim that "all will be revealed". By ending it and saying "see, we REALLY don't need your money, but to make sure we do things right, without all that noise coming from those who want to destroy us, we will allow you to still join us in our revolution". Plenty of misdirection, didn't need to reveal anything, and most of the attention isn't on the fact that they didn't reveal anything. If anything has changed with the true believers, I suspect it is that they feel more a part of the team now, and they also didn't notice the sleight of mind. This is one of the best things they could have done to build their support while cutting off those they don't want around. Will they still be collecting money over the upcoming months?

I have never been against them, I just wanted proof that this was anything more than fun ideas and a bunch of words. Throwing products manufactured by others into a printed case shows nothing, as one off customization does not prove an idea can be manufactured (at that price). I wish them the best, but I trust them much less than I did in my highly skeptical position before.
