Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

Looks like I can't make it after all... I promised my girlfriend a weekend away for her birthday and she's chosen that very weekend! At least we're going to a final fantasy concert

Would have loved to meet some of my fellow Pandorians (@Poke: would have been nice to finally talk in person :) ) but alas. I did some quick calculations, with travel and accommodations, it's just too expensive atm.

Booo.

It could but she wants to go to the Final Fantasy concert which is in London, she's an FF nut

I remember discussing this last year as well. (i'm fade on the gp32x forums) I'll be going along again, for both days this year! Already got my ticket and b&b all booked up. I'll be bringing along my Pandora this year too. One thing I remember from last time was that there were a LOT of people there, an altho I knew there were some other pandorians in the crowd, once actually there, we had no idea who each other were. We really should come up with some sort of identifier. Looking forward to meeting you all. Craig, bring some alcoholic jaffa cakes, and Ed bring plenty of Pandora T-Shirts, in fact can I book one in advance! Medium please :)

Heres some pics from last year to whet the appetite! :)

anyone know a cheap B&B for this with parking preferably? got my ticket just need some where to stay the night :p

Oh, no, do wear it; but if you're that concerned, then look ridiculously out of character for a pimp. Consider a disco wardrobe.

well i am deffinately going to be there just to support the pandora and i am liking that crag is looking into bringing the i control pad across aswell. My land lord currently works at an embroidery company (mainly producing nike gear for proffesionals, i.e. doing the majority of the premiership football tops and players boots, look out for lesscots new boots apparently they are horendous) and i think i might have to get a t-shirt made up with the pandora logo embroided onto it somewhere, and perhaps a big Evil Dragon on the back or something? Open to sugestions :D

also i just sore that EDs Bringing t-shirts potentially. deffo investing in an official one to go along side my un-official one

The first post has been updated with details for the meet up, hope everyone is happy with the Ramsden Arms as a venue, I'm guessing so as no concrete suggestions were made for an alternate venue. As for Craigs suggestion relating to heading into town for the 'Blackpool Experience' then that of course is an option we can put to 'committee', but we do need somewhere to meet up first.

As for being able to identify fellow Pandorians at Replay I thought it might be nice to make some clip on ID badges with the Pandora Logo on them and space to write on your forum name, If people like the sound of that then it would be my pleasure to provide those. If ED is bringing T Shirts then I guess there would be no need for the badges so If I don't hear confirmation that there will be T Shirts I'll bring the badges.

Just a few thoughts for Craig / ED on the Open Pandora / ICP stall :

Have you considered bringing a TV along to demonstrate the Pandora / ICP (with a phone that has TV out)?

Are you going to bring along any printed literature that explains what the Pandora / ICP is?

Did you look at the possibility of giving a talk / presentation?

Will you be taking orders / pre orders for the ICP / Pandora?

I think it would make a lot of sense to knock up a poster or two that clearly explained what the Pandora / ICP is, or perhaps just seriously enticed interest. My guess is that a lot of people there would be interested in the Pandora / ICP but would not have heard of them. You have to get over that British sense of reticence when dealing with the unknown.

Only 11 sleeps until Replay, woohoo! :D

why not just meet up at replay? rather than a seperate venue since we are all giong to replay anyway.

Did think about that as a possibility but thought that people might want to head back to their hotels / B&Bs to drop off any swag they've picked up & also maybe grab a bite to eat before enjoying a few ales and a bit of socialising with fellow Pandorians.

I'm sure we'll be able to meet up whilst at replay as well, hope that won't put people off meeting up for a bit of socialising in the evening. :p

However if the general consensus is to meet up at Replay and then take it from there then I've no problem with that. Will await further responses and alter the first post as required.

I'd prefer to meet folks inside Replay to begin with, an then if we decide to do a bit of socialising in the evening then so be it. I'm travelling down with a few friends an I think the plan is to check out Blackpool for a bit in the evening anyway, so if we've met some other ppl during the day then the more the merrier.

I second the Pandora ID badges idea, sounds good. Walking around a gaming convention with a Pandora Id badge would make me feel like a bit of a vip. :)

I'm still up for the t-shirts too though, I'd just really like one!

I was thinking that, because I won't be staying in Blackpool overnight and it's already going to be a looong day. But I guess I'll see how the day goes.

You'll probably find me hanging around the SSFIV tournament for the first half of the Saturday, getting my ass handed to me by milkshake (sorry, I've not been on my Xbox for a while, lots of things going on IRL at the min)

ED, tried to add you on Skype, wanted to check you still want the lift back on Sunday. My plans hadn't changed, but just wanted to confirm

I think, in such short notice, we should all get badges with "Happy 5th Birthday"! All the Pandora people will know who you are (or that you're on here at least), but everybody else would be "WTF?!?!?!" :D

Well I'll be getting my arse straight from train station to replay venue as I really can't spare any more cash on accommodation... so yeah I also can't afford to miss the last train back either. It will be a loooong day, but I hope to see some of you there, and maybe get some Streetpass hits on 3DS, and I'll bring the Pandora too I guess... don't think about jumping me... because I... will... bite!! :D

I'll definitely by wearing my Atrox shirt... so look out for the spaceship if you want to say hi.

We'll be going but would rather meet at the Replay event as we don't fancy a Saturday night in a Blackpool Pub.

Plus we'll be driving back home after the Replay event so drinking is not an option.

Gutted that I can't go, man. I was really looking forward to this. I guess you'll have to try and enjoy the event without me
