I am going to writte tomorrow an email to see if I can take a sample of the exact plastic that Pyra is going to use. If I can take it, i will try to dye it. If it is possible, a white case is a must in order to make our own color :D. I love the safety orange too.
Please don't. If you bother ED's production companies, they likely would not like the hassle and it could make Pyra production more difficult.

If you want a chunk of Polycarbonate to mess with, just search "Polycarbonate Sheet" on Amazon. No need to bother the companies ED is working with.

Wouldn't be a transparent case the best for modding colours?
You have to paint the inside, but than the colour is "scratch resistant".
The case of my good old iRiver H340 consisted of two layers a transparent one and a black one. Some modders separated the layers and put a printed paper between, so they had pictured cases etc.
Without a second layer that will be a lot harder (cutting the papers to fit in) for the pyra, but should be possibe.
I don't like transparent cases for normal use, but i would love it for modding. If there is a chance to have different colours transparent should be one option. You could also show your modded cicuit board without opening the case :)

The case looks amazing and the attention to detail is by far better than what we would have seen from the Chinese cases. Happy to pay top dollar for these!

Transparent cases are more prone to leak radiation and cause interference with other devices. It's why you don't see transparent products anywhere but by cheap companies.
Just to show my age, gameboy came in clear. Personally, I would recommend dark red and black and maybe Pandora silver.

Just to show my age, my first Game Boy was grey, and there were no other colors available. My next one was a translucent purple GBC. Since then I have collected and modified many more. I don't think some of the colors Nintendo has used on their handhelds would look to good on the Pyra. I do not want it painted, like the GBA SP and others, at all.

Hi, thats nice to hear ! The last months at my shelf must have been a bit boring for my Pandora. So i am happy that it has found a new home at your place.
Do you plan to get a Pyra in the near future ?

@ED
With almost everyone that gets vocal here on the boards already expressed their ideas and wishes, how about making a poll with (non-)colours, people can choose from ?

I absolutely will put in a preorder as soon as it is open. Would love a full debian, larger screen, cellular data, 1080p video, hdmi out, extra buttons, and better nub Pyra. I just hope that the bigger screen, more power, all the LED's and other effects/ improvements don't degrade from that awesome battery life the Pandora had.
