It's software this time!

Should davesha skip the queue so he can work directly on the Pyra?

Cases ARE already being coated and assembly will start in about 2 - 3 weeks.
We will first assemble the upper part and then the lower one, so don't expect shipments to happen right away, but we're getting there.

I'll also create a survey to every preorder soon to figure out how many black and dark chrome coatings I need.
Our bodies are ready, ED.

To first make the Upper Parts make sense, as i expect them to be a bit more divicult because this LCD Cable turn Thing, so the divicult part is done..
If i remember correctly, at least there is no Soldering needed this time like on the Pandora as the Speakers are just to put in..,
But 500 Pyrae per hand ditnt sound like fun, but like a lot of work ;(

I assembled some parts of my Lower Pandora on the Day of its incidence, LED Tunnel, some Buttons, its possible to do, but nothing i would do whit 500 of this Things..

Are there still spaces for preorders or would a current preorder fall into a second batch?

I would be happy to receive loose parts and assemble myself. I took my Pandora apart countless times.

Will the pyra have the ability to mirror the display on to a screen. Also since we have 3 or more weeks before delivery how about a poco projector to display projections

The longer you delay on delivery , more suggestions to develop it into an all in one unit. Eg sensors to measure BP, ECG, Temp, oxygen count, laser to measure , an go on and on. Who wants an incomplete unit anyways wait to get a perfect complete gadget someday

In terms of external display, there is an HDMI-out port but the software for that isn't quite finished yet (the automatic resolution negotation code in the kernel is getting confused by the rotation.)

As for the other suggestions, I hope they aren't serious.

Well the pico projector could work if one follows this thread
And am I correct that there are GPIO pins? In which case, we could add temperature sensors etc. ourselves, like we would with a RPi?

I read that as a pico projector integrated into the Pyra, for which space is a little tight!

I don't think there's much accessible IO, maybe a few pads you could just about solder too, being mindful that the OMAP5 mostly uses 1.8V IO.

So did I but if you have a pocketable pico projector like those in that thread then why does it need to be integrated into the Pyra? Maybe for some future iteration in ~10 - 15 years but not now when we’re so tantalisingly close!

Ahh ok, I thought I’d read somewhere in this forum that there were GPIO...but thanks for the voltage limitation notification!

I'd be happy if there's a mod for the Pyra that can do this:

Can you make that happen?

Great work on the software by the way.

It’s just a thought. And maybe on the next one we can put foldable propellers and make it a mini drone

As for the camera can Dave shah code out a program to take a 10 to 20 second movie at the push of the am button. Pictures are OUT now. People watch action live clips and it’s a lot more sensible and fun to watch

The issue whit just deliver loose parts is that its just needs lots more packing material, as the Pyra Case protects the Inner Electronics much better than any Packing Peanuts, and you cant give a Guaranty when your Customer makes his Pyra self..

Also: If you Screw something up, its dosnt make anything faster as EvilDragon have to send you the Spare Parts..

As for the Mini Drone: The Pyra itsells may be the best Controller for a Drone or a RC Helicopter..

I remember that the had Hives in Parts at the Begining of my Beeceeper Shop Carier,
It was a bit cheaper than a Build Hive, but a lot more Work to do for the Seller as you have to pick up every Part, every Wood Blank and Every Screw,
So now whe only offer these for big resellers, and only if they Take one whole Palette

So unmounted Pyras sounds like a good idea, but in the End, its just to much hassle..

But i could imagine, that he will sell Pyra Parts, but first whe need this 500 Pyras Out..

Yes, I would imagine that as every Pyra part is easily user replaceable, all the parts would eventually be sold in the shop too - so you could build your own Pyra if you really wanted to.
Any thoughts on coding a program to create a 10 to 20 second video by pressing once on the camera capture button

I suspect they are after either time or money savings.

A bit like trying to build yourself a new car by purchasing all of the parts, it would likely wind up being more expensive than simply buying the whole unit.

As for the time savings factor or wanting to jump the queue - I doubt that the primary replacement system boards will be coming up in the parts section until well after there are full units in stock for immediate purchase.

For the fun factor or handling all the parts and assembling it yourself - just take it apart and put it back together if that is your thing. There really aren't that many parts to deal with and it is -far- less complicated than changing the battery or screen in 'old' phones or tablets - i.e. old enough to where that is even hypothetically possible (I have done several).

So - they might as well put in a normal order for the unit they want and get a spot in line.
