GP2X
I could hold on to mine gp32 for 10 years and sell it as a super rare console for £500

PalmOne names this technique "non-volatile file system" (NVFS). It gives the illusion of a RAM storage pool that does not lose any of its data when power is removed. This PalmOne knowledge base article explains how this technique works on the Treo 650."
information from wikipedia...
Doesn't this mean that NAND Flash Memory in fact can be used as extra RAM??

Of course that's a tough one to call when we don't know how good this is going to be but newbies will want one of these instead of the now obsolete gp32 so it's worth keeping in mind.
Personally I'd rather not sell my gp but funds are severly lacking at present. I guess it depends on how long we have till this thing is launched.
Would this be able to have PDA functions? It would be great if they could add the back up battery or whatever is needed to have this function as it's something that quite a few people seem to have wanted from the gp32.
The design is pretty good but I'm not loving the colour. I know it's meant to match the gp32's colour scheme but the gold/beige is not a good look. The CG image of the black console is far nicer but maybe they don't want to step on Sony's toes to much and just want to come across as a quirky console?
Oh and they definately need to switch those buttons back to the proper places. The whole point of the upgrade is because we all want better SNES emulation (amongst others) and moving the buttons around although not the end of the world is going to be annoying.
I noticed the logo on the console has a red X. I wonder where they got that idea from.
Jarska333 posted on Jul 27 2005 at 08:12 PM said:Well, theoretically... But I'm wondering, how... compulsory? pre-ordering actually is? I preorder, and it turns out, after it's launch, that it is infact utter crap... I'm stuck with an order... It seems good, though.
I'm wondering, do they base their MP3, OGG etc. play capability on GP32 homebrew, or does it actually support them trough bios/os?
I'm believing it is a multipurpose processor... GPH ain't THAT stupid... :unsure:DaveC posted on Jul 27 2005 at 09:05 PM said:What I think is that you are NUTS! It is only around *250 MHZ!* Some GP32s do that NOW. That is not even fast enough for SNES let alone 32X etc.
And graphics chips? useless for emulation. They are good for frame buffers and for stretching (which we wont need) that is it!
Get real, it will just run some stuff we have now a little smoother and that is about it.

I don't see what all the moaning is about, the 2D Accelerator will take a HUGE load off the primary processor, Like Craig said, don't just judge by the clock speed.
Honestly can't wait for it, and who wants to emulate psx or n64, if i want to play those they're in a box close by (besides, there isn't enough buttons )
