Finding a proper name and logo :)

This is much more fun than College work
I like this idea...

I like the 2nd one most, because of the shape of that red section...It's the curve that binky [i think it was?] used on his old design for the 'P'.

i think it would be nice, just as the logo to complement that text. I played around with that curve too, doing all the other letters using it to look a bit like claw marks.

I think that text with this flame logo would look great. But in a flat style, without that embossing you have there at moment

I can't understand how you can see this as "E"

Looks like an e to me too i'm afraid.
Very definitely an 'e' - and slanting it doesn't help :(
Lol, wonder if I am weird or if you are weird. I would like to see what people think about it.

I think the problem is capital P and tiny a is the same size. So the word Is between Pyra and Eyra and it depends on who see it. I don't think it's a problem except if it's only me or less people who see Pyra.

Whatever, slanting is my best skill but I'm sure that someone can do better.

Personally I think this is pretty much in the middle ground... Depending on how it was in context, people could easily see it as either or, [P] or [E]

The original image was supposed to have one without the embossing, I must have screwed up and put two duplicates   See below. Hope I'm not cluttering the thread with these.

Edit: Removed the text, was inspired by Binky to go back to messing with black and white (and gray) colors. I'm not just doing these randomly  :)

@Binky - Because it's the accompanying logo... or a simplified/smaller logo to use alongside your text as a logo.

Like NIKE brand for example, have their word "NIKE" in their style font, but also built up recognition with their 'Swoosh' logo.

Same with loads of logos, like McDonalds and their golden arches...

@Pritchy, I like those better myself, still the one that the middle stripes all the way down, the 3rd one you done there...

What if the flame surrounded the P? Like, instead of that red bit in the middle of the Gray flame, the P was the red bit?

Also, I have to disagree with that Dragonbox logo. It looks like a butterfly. This would be appropriate if the device was called the "Monarch" maybe, but not for the "Pyra" or any sort of "Dragonbox".

I quite like this idea, as long as the p is still easily legible.

yeah ignore my dragonbox bit up there.,.. that's from an ooold effort upped ages ago and was on the file I edited just to show Pritchy's flame icon alongside Binky's curve text :)

[in fact, that's not even the original curve text is it.. but imagine it is :) ]

As for the flame surrounding [P], that could look nice I think too, probably need to adjust the flame shape a little though to push out that right hand side a little more to fit

That Y looks really weird to me. It looks like another P to me. If it's supposed to be a Y, then surely it's horizontally flipped or something. In general, it is not readable enough.

That dragonbox logo is clever, but it looks too much like a chopped up Pandora logo to me (of course because that's exactly what it is ;) ). I prefer the flying cube logo, it has that nice cute tongue-in-cheek funny kind of style.

I agree. The Y does look like too much like a P to me. Also, the way the bottom-right leg of the A ends short feels weird to me; I'd like it to extend furter.

The dragonbox logo is clever, for butterfly imagery. It doesn't make sense for "Dragonbox". I also prefer the flying cube logo for Dragonbox. I wouldn't mind if that is what ended up on the top of my Pyra. :)

I like that dragonbox a lot, it reduces childlikes apareance of the word Dragonbox. I also like the flame Pyra idea but not like this because it isn't really nice and it's hard to read, it' will be hard to make a good one.

The sober dragonbox logo should be with a less sober Pyra logo like this:

VERY quick, messy as hell mock up to get an idea of what it would look like.
Looks ok to me.

My version of these letters are not great though, at the time of doing them, I was just extending on Binky's original letters but trying to maintain that single curve throughout all letters ... I think someone even done a better version [somewhere waaay back in this thread] where the [Y] letter was clearer.

But the idea is good. Then on some things, like the favicon, just the [P] in the flame would work nicely

Many companies get a long just fine where their logo is their name written in a distinctive font.

I think it worked better having different letters like this (colours can always be tweaked)

There's always the potential to isolate a single distinctive character from the whole word:

I think that the rehashed pandora logo is too obviously a rehashed pandora logo, and gives that impression to an outsider that somebody was too lazy or unimaginative to do a proper dragonbox logo.

I like this also.

I don't mind doing some more messing around any of it, if anyone wants me to make a better version of anything suggested. I'm not claiming to be in any way a satisfactory artist but it is nice to be able to help out, even if it is just fleshing out ideas  :)
