Psx4gp2x Beta Testers Thread

hey, what the heck? it's been 28 hours since he said he would release.

I don't want to sound rude, but it is comments like that that make developers not want to give out release deadlines/schedules.

Anyways, I am looking forward to the release. Probably have some cash floating Unai's way this time. :D

stop rushing the guy
he's too busy having sex with his wife/gf to care about the psx emulator
i know i would, give the person time, he has to go to work too you know.
Bet his laughing at everyone as he says - "screw coding for the night. I'll have some sex instead"
anyways good luck with the beta testing, i getting my gp2x soon
if some of my fave games are playable ill personally knight zodtt
See, we've got a smart one here. He knows all us developers are sex-crazed maniacs.

Anyway, don't rush the guy. One codes when one feels like it.

Hi everyone.

Sorry for the delay. I talked to Unai and he preferred a private beta until he can fix some odd GPU bugs.

Some things to keep in mind with this beta 1.8...
- Hardware scaling is implemented. This is my replacement to Interlacing 1 and Progressive On.
- If you decide to turn off the HW Scaling, remember that Progressive MUST be on when using a interlacing over 0.
- Underclocking is available for use in-game. Use the PUSH-STICK + VOL_DOWN or VOL_UP to use it.
- Underclocking won't help in games that are already squeezing every FPS out of the emu. So I'm assuming many 3D games won't benefit from underclocking.
- Underclocking also isn't quite reliable yet. It can at times cause the emulator to not load save data until the PSX CLOCK is set back to default. A temp solution to this bug is to turn the PSX CLOCK all the way up with PUSH+VOL_UP to it's default clock before the bug occurs, then set it back to what you had it afterwards.

So if you want Beta 1.8, just PM me with the subject "Beta 1.8" and I'll give it to you. This is about as open of a private beta I could make it and still comply with Unai's request. If you don't get your reply right away, be patient, it will come.

Just so everyone is aware I'll say it again, this release is faster by only a handful of FPS. Only if a game isn't intensive and doesn't use up all the cycles, then underclocking help. Otherwise underclocking might slow things down even. If underclocking does work, it usually gives a dramatic speed increase. Try it out, maybe we'll find some new games that work with it.

I seem to get a black screen after loading a game. I've never used the emulator before, so I don't know why this is.

I've tried 200MHz, 266MHz, 275MHz. The game is Legend of Mana in ISO format uncompressed.

I hate when this happens, I'm going to wake up tommorow and find another 4 pages of comments i have to browse through to get up to date.... ;)

Can anyone get FF7 to work? All I get is 'Load failed' on both Pal and NTSC versions.

Other than that, underclocking is great! :D

Street Fighter EX2 has a 100% speed increase to around 10fps.

Tekken now runs at around 12 fps. I'll post more detailed results in a bit. :)

Load Failed usually means the BIOS isn't in the same folder as psx4all.gpe. Is the file "scph1001.bin" in there? If not it gives that error for sure.

I'm going to be away for the next 2 hours or so. I'll reply when I'm back.

Thanks,
ZodTTD
