I have to say version C totally breaks most games and in most is a deprovement to B.

This is quite a let down, just can't wait for the next release.
I think the breaking could have to do with games that don't have SRAM, well I'm pretty sure SMB doesn't save so that might be it

Nah, plenty of non-SRAM games work, looks like a rogue compilation option that borked things pretty badly. Of course all my test ROMs worked fine, so I might have to add a few more titles to the list.

Anyway, here's a version with better compatibility:

fishyNES 0.01c update

Whoa!
LOL
Umm, Fishybawb, sorry to tell ya, but this last fix is extra broke.
I have made three fishyNES folders on my card, and kept the ame arrangement for each.
I tested a few games, but I'll just mention Final Fantasy and Zelda as the standard examples.

fishyNES1b: Either game starts, plays, but won't save or load.

fishyNES1c: FF starts, saves & loads. Zelda loads old SRAM with my name, but will freeze up when leaving screen, so I can't test save.

fishyNES1cfix: All the bad stuff combined. I tested with the other versions, and definitively, your last fix does not save at all, nor does it load. And Zelda will freeze up the same as the 1st c release.

RETRY :p

Christ...

What I really need (apart from a break from this bloody emulator) are BETA TESTERS! At least that way I won't go releasing half arsed versions on the archive. Apply within, three or four people will do nicely :)

So someone please test this version, and if it works we'll never speak of the ill fated "c" release ever again :(

fishyNES v0.01d

I tried fishyNES v0.01d with zelda and some others games and they seem to save/load and work fine now. Zelda doesnt freeze up after leaving screen either.

Awesome!
THIS one works!
And I can proudly say that I have little better to do, so I fully volunteer to test this emu. You can send me betas to my username at hotmail or gmail (or I can continue to pluck them from this board).
Thanks, fishybawb!

Cool :)

OK, you're on the list. I'm thinking naples39 and mooseknuckle2000 would be good candidates too. I'll PM you when I've got a new version to test - this one'll take a while, I'm rewriting the rendering code. My tests show it to run most games at ~60fps/fs0, but it also has slight colour issues...

Sure, I'd be happy to do some testing every now and again. Also, if we testers want to be most helpful to fishy, we should each designate 10 to 20 games that we will always be testing with each new release, then fishy can be assured of a quick compatibility test to a very large number of games.

Save states
Turbo
Higher frameskip choice
Optional auto frameskip
Frame limiter (sound zooms and FPS spikes in transition screens in almost every game I've tried)
Game Genie
Get Castlevania III to run (cake, right?)
Fix/optimize the functionality of the NES library.
And why not that crazy upside-down screen idea? (sounds to me like someone lost a thumb stick)

Just making sure you don't get bored, fishybawb ^_^

SMB works... but I have no idea what it's doing, I'll try a different rom, I didn't have a ! one because I was trying others to see if c would have a working one
