I Just Got My Gp2x!!!

lintsniffer did you order a screen protector too? i cant work out if the MK2 needs one or not

No. I havn't really figured out that part exactly.

edit

I ordered from Gp32z.com. In the product description, the MKII doesn't have screen protector listed, but in the seperate item of 'gp2x screen protector' the item description reads 'Hard cover replacement screen. Same screen that you placed on top of the Gp2x LCD.' which makes me think it is included.
You could always email your distributor and see if it's included.

Got mine today via gp2x.co.uk. Not really had a chance to take a look at it, since I'm at work.

:D

people who have just received their MK2 models need to do some reviews on it so everyone else can know how the MK2's are!.

I should get mine by the end of the week.

I hope my GP2X shows up before Friday as I'm on my hols for a week after that and I was rather looking forward to lazing around in the sun playing some retro gaming goodness. If I ordered last Thursday there's a chance it'll show up... Right?

ordered mine last tusday (16th) from gp2x.co.uk, still waiting... from what I've read though it should be worth it.

:(

Your order will be despatched tomorrow/Thursday. Sorry for the
additional delay which is due to major server problems yesterday. You
will receive a confirmation of despatch email on the day your order is
shipped.

Oh well, patience is a virtue.

Yipes, I guess that means I have no hope of taking it with me on holiday then. :(
And that means that no-one will be in the house when it's delivered. D'oh!

ordered mine a while ago (I think it was 3 weeks and 2 days ago). had my confirmation email yesterday:

This is confirm your recent GP2X order has now been sent to you.

If you are in the UK you can look forward to recieving your order in the next 24 hours (weekends not included), if you chose UPS shipping you should recieve your order in the next 48 hours (weekends not included). Airmail will take 2-12 days.

If you have any questions or problems please email sales@cdworld.co.uk, please remember to quote your order number which is ?????????????????????. Don't delete this email as it is your receipt.

Due to the GP2X being a new console, firmware updates will be released within the coming weeks, we will email you and also update our website when these are available.

Current known problems:

On some units the case can be too tightly sealed, just loosen the screws slightly, signs of this are screen ghosting when using the joypad.

Joystick may have trouble going left, just slightly unscrew the joypad top (just turn it).

These only effect a tiny amount of units, but we thought we had better mention it.

Thank you for ordering from www.GP2X.co.uk we hope you enjoy your products and will order from us again soon.

the post attempted to deliver it today, but I was at work, I will pick it up tomorrow. Cant wait

I Just Got My Gp2x!!!

Ordered mine a month ago tommorrow (24th March),
But I was given the option of waiting for the Mk2 and getting Firmware v2 (not wanting to brick it as soon as I get it!) so I did.
It arrive today!
Yay, I got the email saying it was dispached yesterday so I setup a webcam aimed at the door so I could watch for the delivery card. It arrive so I left work early and went and collected it from the post office.

So far so good, I have tried videos, mp3.
Atari emulator, Duke Nukem, MAME and a few other things.
The joystick seems to work well to me, it does have one of the gp2x.co.uk caps on it.

I will take it to work tommorrow and compair it against Parkydr's which is a Mk1.

Gary

BTW This is also my first post on the forums - hi!

All of the distributors are probably sending out in the order that you ordered. I ordered from GP32z on the 18th, So i'll be in the last batch of MKIIs that go out. Oh well :/ I guess that means I get mine sent in a day or so!

Wow, didn't know you could do that. In Aberdeen if you get the card you cant pick it up until the next day. Which is going to be torture if mine comes today :(

I got mine today too!

I'll probably put a review and some high rez photos up later, but I'm swamped with Uni work at the moment.

Same situation as Imekon. I sat here and finished writing up my JavaDoc comments before opening my package from UPS.

But now I've got it.

Woohoo!

I ordered mine the weekend just gone with the 24-hour delivery in the hopes of taking it on my hols next week (like Jambo).
I contacted gp2x.co.uk to see where it was and they said that they'd had so many orders, it'd take 3 to 7 days to ship :(

Oh, well. At least it'll be waiting for me when I get back :D

Anyone know how well ScummVM works (or another Scumm emu)? I really want to play all my old LucasArts games again (The Dig!) - I own them all, but XP hates most of them and I can't be bothered to set-up an old system (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Also, are there any decent speccy emu's and do they support the tap or zx2(?) format? I've got a CD of hundreds of speccy games that I'd love to play while travelling (Manic Miner! Booty! joy!)

That's the exact reason I want a GP2X as well. :D Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island 1 + 2 and loads of other point and click goodies. :D

Getting pretty frustrated now. First it was the 15th, then it was Tuesday / Weds, then Thurs/ Friday. Then Friday or Monday. On Monday it was Tuesday / Wednesday, and on Tuesday it was Weds / Thurs. Still no email >.<

Ha! What a coincidence, I got Just those 4 games yesterday, in anticipation of getting my mk2 :)
Don't know how well it works on the gp2x (if at all) but Grim Fandango is fantastic too.
