Firmware 1.2.0

well i had the problem after upgrading the SD card would not show any files when i had the custom skin installed, unless there was somthing wrong with the skin, anyway i used my mmc 128 PQI card to flash the default skin and then i patched it again and it fixed the problem for me!!!

Well, i just installed the firmware and ran the patch on a freshly formatted integral 1gb card with some newly charged rechargables and it worked fine without a hitch following djwillis's guide. The card reads fine and everything works. Thank god you can now move up and down on the menu, that was really annoying.

It only reads my SD cards some of the time anyways, so I don't really see how it would change anything for me in that regard.

EDIT: Just upgraded, worked fine for me.

Unfortunately, the screen isn't any better, although UPLL mode in the CPU tweaker actually seems to produce better results now (though I'm probably just imagining it).

4-way menu navigation is AWESOME!!!!

And it works fine w/ both of my SD cards, the 256mb Kodak and the 512mb PNY.

Hi , i upgraded my gp2x from 1.0.1 to 1.2.0
with a 512Mb scandisk not formatted
it worked

but when i restarted my gpx still says it uses FW 1.0.1
:-/

did i do something wrong?

I have 4 different SD cards and I can't use any of them to boot.

I had to use the updater utility to upgrade to 1.1.0. Can the utility be used for 1.2 or do I need to wait for a new one to be put together?

EDIT: Never mind, got it to work. The files were not being uzipped properly to the sd card, not sure how that happened...

So if I fuck up there is a downgrading guide right? Or do I just need to reinstall the previous fw??

And I cant really fuck up my system too badly can I?

I just upgraded mine, went smooth as. All 4 different SD cards I have are readable, no problems at all. Some of the fixes are quite handy, definitely worth upgrading.

eh?

that was wierd.

I installed the update. My SD card didnt work, so I re-installed the 1.1.0 firmware. That seemed fine and it now reported version 1.1.0 at bootup.

However, the info screen reported 1.2.0 (now reports 1.1.0), and the firmwares changes are still implemented. eg- the up/down movement in the main menu and the switching round of the SD and NAND options are there.

But most importantly, my SD card now works. But don't ask me to tell you what firmware version I am running. It should be 1.1.0, but seems to be 1.2.0 with fixed SD mounting and 1.1.0 at bootup.

Your firmware is probably 1.1.0 but your media player and the other GUI files are probably the 1.2.0 version because you didn't rerun the mplayer patch for 1.1.0 did you?

Firmware upgraded fine with my 1gb sandisk sd card.
TV Out works on everything now, so once you set it everything goes through the tv.
The screen centering menu is weird cause the box outline that people use for calibrating is off-center...
I tried out DrMDx and the menu works fine (full screen on the tv) but the actual games only display on the top half of the screen (and you see the back buffer on the bottom half)

DrMDx menu screen:

yes actually.

The firmware still allows up/down movement in menus etc too which is surely nothing to do with the mplayer patch.

Just thought I would post my findings with the new firmware.

I updated to the 1.2.0 firmware, the picture viewer is much better and a low res Divx episode of Red vs Blue I had runs with picture and sound in sync (the picture was about 3 seconds behind the sound on 1.1.0)

As for my cards, Integral 1GB works perfectly, Memory Plus 256MB (from my Satnav) works perfectly but unfortunately my PNY 1GB no longer works.

I'm going to wait on this patch. While I applaud the features and I feel like all my San disk cards will continue to work GOH is inevitably going to release a new patch or a fix for this one so I'll wait for that.

I don't hate them for this Update, I understand that in the course of developing them they can possibly make mistakes, they are not gods and are indeed fallible, cut them some fucking slack. I'd like a perfect upgrade every single time too but I'll never expect it. Have you ever seen a big patch for a game like World of Warcraft introduce new features and never break something? No. And Blizzard is supposed to be a super top tier company.

So I'm going to sit back and wait for GPH to make a statment or release a new patch and THEN I'm going to WAIT, and see what the people who know how to fix their 2X's if something goes wrong say about the patch.
