Update regarding the cases (and some other things)

In one of his earlier posts he mentioned that he does "regret the preorder". So it seems he actually did preorder. But of course it's possible that he cancelled his order by now.

Because some people here bullied out every critical voice!

You got the problem!

not true. i have raised a complaint or 2, difference is is that i'm not attacking ED over this, i understand taht jyour frustrated, so is alot of people i bet. WE ALL KNEW THAT THIS WAS GOING TO BE A PROCESS AND ITS GOING TO BE A TOUGH ROAD AHEAD FOR ED AND HIS TEAM. hell i have asked Ed a couple times when he thought maybe spring or summer. i asked in a message because that was the right thing to do and also didnt want something like this to happen when it looks like a hard date. to me i know he was estimating, and i also relized that it may not happen. am i here yelling and calling him lyre or a fraud? no what im trying to say is, that this team that's working on this is doing a great job. hell if it wasn't the fact that the majority of us didn't want a 4gb ram version that would part would have been done a while ago.
m@t please just chill, drink some beer if your old enough and let the guys work and get it done. They could be like ONO on kickstarter and be screwing everyone that supported them. go look at their comments and stuff then come back here. you will have a lot better respect for how ED and team is communicating with us

Hi all :)

One simple solution to ease all the tensions on the boards:

LET'S HAVE A CODING COMPETITION !!! What about the Pyra Angst Coding Competition 2017 ? This should bring some good memories to those who were already here ~7 years ago ;)

Cheers, Magic Sam

@EvilDragon, so we can distinguish between those who do or do not have 'skin in the game', is it possible for the forum software to grant 'trophies' based on orders? I'm guessing that it would be a royal manual pain in the neck and that not everyone would want to have their user name associated with verified purchaser status...
Hmm, are you aware that you just proposed to impose a social stigma on anyone who "hasn't contributed" to whatever somebody's latest random definition of "the greater good" is?

I wish there was another coding compo. Last years have seen far to few.
I've always thought that there should be one final "Best of Pandora" competition, where ALL the software and ports for the Pandora can be voted on. The winners, and an archive of all the other redistributable software, would be a nice thing to have as a neat physical box. That'd be a nice recapitulation (did I use that word right?) of all the big (and in some cases the "impossible") achievements on the software side of the Pandora community. With editorial texts about the winning entries, maybe interviews with developers... that'd be a really nice thing indeed!

I know that I would buy one, I can not be the only one. Hm, maybe I should open a thread about this later...

Only reasons I haven't preordered yet is financial, and that I haven't decided if I wanted to grab a Pyra (Though the form factor is -perfect-, it's the Operating System I can't decide) or a GPD Win (Holding out for the GPD Win 2, with hopefully vastly improved keyboard and bugfixes). But I've been SUPER happy with my Pandora, and I am severely leaning towards getting a preorder for one even if it doesn't run Windows 10. I know the Pyra will be powerful enough to handle other software that will allow me to do much of what I would do with a Windows 10 machine anyway.

That being said, with any development system, especially one with the developers who have real lives and their own full time jobs, the current process is to be expected. So the delays are matters of course. Especially while developing a unit as niche market as this. Guarantee if Microsoft was making their own unit, it would have already been in development for years prior to announcement of its release, even a large company like that doesn't deliver finished products in less than a year, much less two or three. Plus, with upgradeable CPU's, the Pyra is likely to be around even longer than the Pandora's rather impressive life.

So long story short, support the crew, sit back and relax and chill and watch the ride! There's bound to be lots of interesting stuff in the near future. After all, it's not like we're waiting for the PCB's to be drawn and I'm pretty sure ED isn't hand-assembling the components himself for each product, so there's no need for a rush. If I wanted a vending machine cheapie, I'd go to China and make do with whatever android-in-a-box they've built last week, but there's few products out there that can match the love and dedication the Pandora and Pyra have gotten and that means a lot.

Haters can go start their own companies and make their own products!

I'm thinking about getting a GPD-WIN just to hold off on the pyra wait (never had a pandora), although the Windows 10 only OS will bother me a lot and the incompatibility with fullscreen in a lot of programs due to the software-rotated screen (because they're using a vertical screen) is probably the biggest reason I'm so reluctant on it

Possibly, yes. I don't have any issues with people who have not pre-ordered who still want to provide constructive input on the project. However, if someone is going to loudly complain about aspects of the project, it would be good to be able to tell if they're actually involved or just trolling the boards.

A person who comes here just to complain and elicit a response isn't really contributing.

I see no added value in making pre-order status public.

It will just split the community into two parts, creating an "us" vs "them" mentality which is rarely a good thing.
There is nothing wrong with members being critical about the project, regardless of their pre-order status.

Being disrespectful is something entirely different and for that we already have moderators who do a nice job of determining the borderline.
Let us not create a witch-hunt because someone acts like an ass.

Now you are looking like a pathetic guy. Do a favour to yourself and delete your account :).

Gee, it's almost as if he doesn't understand that this is a private site and the moderators can tell him what to go do with himself if they choose and the police will just laugh at him!

Oh, you are a german jurist?

Private Site, Private Rules, Private Owner, Private Server. Pretty sure that whole Article 5 of Grundgesetz gives the site owner the right. And a jurist only gets involved if you go to court, which you have to first file a lawsuit, which requires you to get a lawyer and go before a judge. Kinda getting a little ahead of yourself there, why don't you just sit back and relax and let things go? If you paid money for something you don't have yet, I'm sure you can ask for your money back. If not, you're not out any money, so why the hostility?

@m@t: Look who is talking. The only one who is insulting and respectless imho is you.

Just ignore this person. Entertaining or not, just don't answer to him and he will probably just go away. Don't reply to him, don't quote him, don't respond to his flaming. Just ignore him. Let ED handle his posts, he does it very professionaly. If ED does not respond, do not respond too. If ED responds, do not respond, it just makes things more interessting for him. This person will go away, if you just ignore him.
