Medical care is a business in every country, regardless of whether it has socialized medical care or not. As long as there are private, paid alternatives, the socialized branch will always be left behind in overall quality. It's the only way the private companies will stay in business. I understand food, entertainment, and the like to be businesses, but something that so greatly affects human life? There's no ethics whatsoever, when the rich get a higher chance of living than the poor.
Even if you support a state healthcare system it is phenomenally stupid to disagree with private treatment. The people with access to private healthcare:
a) Contribute more towards the state funded health service, benefiting those that use it
B) Do not use the state funded service, benefiting those that do
People who use private healthcare have no vested interest in the quality of state funded provisions. Therefore, they will less likely to support policies/parties who are interested in increasing the standard and funding of provision, and will be more likely to support those who advocate low taxation with poorly funded, low quality healthcare.
I would ban private healthcare if I were PM. The idea that someone should get treated before my gran because they are a lawyer/banker etc is one of the most dispicable I can think of.
Those that use private healthcare:
a) provide more in real terms to the state funded healthcare service, benefiting those that use it
B) don't use the state funded healthcare service, benefiting those that use it
They are not "chosen before your gran", they are chosen by doctors who as I said own themselves. Doctors should not be slaves just because they are doctors. They still own their own bodies.

Pure speculation.
I think you are opposed to private healthcare because in the UK, the difference between the NHS and private healthcare is blatant. However there are countries in which the national health system is better funded.
What good is it if private healthcare is forbidden and the health system still can´t provide properly for the patients?
Not much.
That's why funding
should be increased. And that's why everyone (including the rich) should have to contribute and use the service.
The rich do contribute to the service, more than the poor. Using the service would make it less efficient.

And by using private healthcare they totally remove themselves from caring about public healthcare standards. Thus resulting in them favouring lower taxes and shitter provision for the masses.
It's obvious.
Make private healthcare provision illegal and watch the rich flock to supporting tax increased to pay for NHS improvements.
People who buy private health insurance are scum imo.
Well yeah you can make private anything illegal and watch the selfish scum rich flock to the state funded anything, but it doesn't make it right to ban it.
Of course if you ban the best thing people will support the second best. It doesn't make it right.
